Job Description

NHBC have an amazing opportunity for a Building Inspector to join their Inspection team based in the Middlesborough area. The role of the Building Inspector will contribute to the efficient and effective running of the inspection service by working effectively with registered builders to ensure new homes meet NHBC standards, Building Regulations and associated legislation, as well as working with site personnel to develop good customer relationships and promote the value and benefits of working with NHBC.About the roleBased from home normally within area of operation, the job compromises of working within established protocols and procedures to;Take responsibility for the inspection of new homes under construction and/or associated usesplan inspection visits to construction sites ensuring agreed service levels are metProvide technical expertise, advice and guidance on constructionInspect homes at key stages of construction in response to requests from buildersRecord and report result of inspections to builders and their representativesRecord and maintain accurate inspection recordsAssess sites for NHBC’s ‘Pride in the Job’ quality campaign.Assess and reporting on the technical competence of builders applying for NHBC Registration.About youProven and relevant housebuilding or construction experience and/or a construction related qualification such as City and Guilds, HNC, HND or NVQ (or equivalent)Full driving licenceAble to listen, build rapport, establish credibility and build effective working relationships.Able to tailor communications to meet the needs of the audience.Able to influence and deal with potential disagreements in an assertive manner that maintains relationships.IT literate and able to learn new software packagesAbility to work as part of a team.Good attention to detail and problem-solving skills.Able to write clearly and succinctly in a well-structured and logical way.Able to gather and analyse information to support decision making.Plans and works in a systematic and organised way.Applies specialist and detailed technical expertise.Develops job knowledge and expertise through continual professional development.Able to describe the house building process and how the trades interact with each other.This is a physically demanding role requiring visits to construction sites and inspection of buildings throughout the whole of the build process.
