Job Description

Associate Director of Curriculum - EngineeringLocation: MiddlesbroughSalary: up to £52,224 per annumType: PermanentHours: 37 hours per weekBenefits: 36 per annum plus statutory Bank Holidays plus teachers pension and moreReporting to: Assistant Principal - Construction, Engineering & TTEMain Purpose:The ideal candidate will have a vocational background within the engineering sector, with a proven track record for curriculum design and innovation. Experience of working with employers to enhance and inform the curriculum. Experience of managing a largecurriculum area and driving improvements is essential. Enthusiastic, motivating and inspiring are key attributes we are looking for in the successful candidate.To lead the planning, monitoring and delivery of a dynamic responsive curriculum. To ensure academic staff plan and deliver a wide range of challenging, relevant learning and work experiences that ensure all learners can develop and apply the skills, knowledge,behaviours and attitudes required for the 21st Century learning, life and work.Duties:Provide academic leadership and management for all staff in the curriculum areas.Develop new curricula and employment related opportunities which meet the needs of students and employers.Ensure high quality teaching and learning and the management of underperformance.Manage and take part in the observation of teaching & learning within the department and standardise with observers across the College.Ensure the curriculum areas are fully compliant with the College’s Health and Safety policies and procedures.Ensure full implementation of Study Programmes.Ensuring a clear intent, to maintain, review, develop and expand the curricula on offer, enabling effective planning of staff and course timetables.Effectively manage the profit and loss of a circa £3 - 3.5m budget.Champion quality assurance in the department.Achieve the department’s Key Performance Measures (KPM’s).Ensure all students are supported effectively to achieve their goals, providing appropriate Additional Learning Support where required.Assist with the appointment of staff and arrange cover for absent staff.Monitor the interviews of prospective students and induction arrangements including pre-course counselling and diagnosis, as agreed, with the Vice Principal - Student Services.Ensure that the College’s Performance Review System is applied to all staff and that underperformance is identified and managed.Manage and co-ordinate the review, monitoring and reporting processes within the department to ensure the highest capacity to improve.Ensure the department is focused on inclusiveness and ensuring that all students make the progress expected and achieve high outcomes.Lead the communication processes with relevant awarding bodies to ensure efficient and effective relationships and accurate and timely flow of information.Ensure best practice is shared, all documentation used is standardised, and the standardisation of assessment practices and material is achieved across the department.Lead the at risk’ process ensuring any courses that are underperforming are monitored closely and that intervention strategies are implemented to drive improvements.Lead and support processes associated with Internal and External Verification / Moderation.Lead the processes associated with Learner Voice, Inclusion, Equality and Diversity ensuring the highest level of awareness and responsiveness.Be accountable for the accurate data returns for the department.Develop the curriculum areas’ portfolio of Higher EducationDeputise for the Assistant Principal as appropriate.Manage and co-ordinate the review, monitoring and reporting processes including:

  • Quality Improvement
  • Performance Targets
  • Curriculum Audit
  • Department and Curriculum Planning and Review
  • Course Review and Course Files
  • New Course Approval
  • Retention, pass and achievement data
  • Attendance, high grade and value added data
  • ALS effectiveness and outcomes
Manage and respond to all processes associated with the Learner Voice including complaints / compliments, Learner Surveys, Learner Representation and with those related to inclusion, Equality and Diversity.Assist in the organisation and management of Department Reviews, including the observation of teaching and learning and resulting action plans and staff development.Associate Director -Curriculum and Quality may be required to cover class as a temporary measure.Carry out the duties of Investigating Officer as and when required.Actively show a commitment to the Departmental Strategic Objectives.Show an active commitment to the Colleges Equality and Diversity Policy, Quality Frameworks and Health & Safety Procedures.Actively participate in Continuous Professional Development including the introduction of new technologies to allow you to contribute effectively to the success of the CollegeRequirements:Proven experience of working with College Quality procedures and processes.Experience of implementing T Levels and curriculum reformExperience of working with all aspects of College Data and processes.Experience of using IT systems such as ProAchieve, ProMonitor and ProSolution.Proven track record of innovation.FE management experience in the Engineering sector - Desirable.Teaching experience in the Engineering sector - Desirable.Experience of financial management - Desirable,Experience of managing a team - Desirable.Minimum level 4 qualification.Qualified teacher with substantial and successful teaching experience.Grade C or above in Maths and English (or equivalent).Proven CPD.A commitment to undertake any mandatory training relevant to the role.Management qualification - Desirable.Assessor/Internal Verification qualifications - DesirableFor more information please get in touch with Dan at Imperial Recruitment Group
