3D Designer/DetailerOur client, a Merseyside based company that deals with large scale fabrication seeks an experience 3D Designer/Detailer to take the lead design role in all projects, producing 3D models from scratch, you will be responsible for and able to deliver end to end design on a project.This is central role in the design office, if you want to come in and be part of a flourishing organisation as it grows, and able to influence and growth and direction of the business, then this is the perfect long term role for you.You will ideally have 1-2 years background in a hands on construction role, and approx. 5 years in 3D design at this level, managing the design on large scale projects from end to end, from blank page to completion.You will have good judgement and be able to make key design decisions, but will also be happy to consult with your fellow team members to reach an effective decision or come up with a solution, if in doubt.Experienced user of 3D design drafting software such as Solidworks or other similar equivalent 3D packages is essential. It is essential that you are self sufficient in the software product you are most familiar with, as there will not be able support available to learn the software on the job, this is a hit the ground running role.Should you have knowledge of BIM, this would be advantageous, although its not essential.The 3D Designer/Detailer Role & Responsibilities * To take the lead design role in a given project, produce 3D models from scratch, having a willingness to innovate and an eye for detail to ensure the solution fully answers the design specification and meets all budget/time/safety/quality requirements.* To interrogate models produced using the 3D software capabilities (FEA/CFD etc).* To produce accurate GAs and all associated technical details as required for fabrication and construction, including assembly drawings, schedules/parts lists etc, output CAD/CAM data, and other documents as required.* To review specification documents issued and to ensure design details produced are compliant with the agreed specification, raise all foreseeable exceptions at early stage for review.* To advise programme for completion of tasks issued and manage own time effectively to consistently meet agreed deadlines. Ensure approval processes are followed and progress through required stages in time.* To raise RFIs in a timely manner, pursue to close out outstanding items, and maintain RFI registers as required.* Ensure design information produced is checked for accuracy and completeness prior to issue, and is issued in the correct format, including uploading onto company and client systems.* Own the document control function for all design documentation associated with assigned projects. Ensure drawing transmittals are completed and revision changes are logged and controlled.* To assist with site surveys and supplier quality inspections as required, and attend technical meetings as required.* To collate and maintain supplier product information for O&M manuals and quality control purposes, and produce as-built information for assigned projects.* To liaise with and assist/support site staff and other third parties as required to overcome any problems encountered during fabrication/construction. On rare occasions, from time to time this may include a requirement to overnight away from home to enable attendance at customer sites etc (expensed).* To assist in the development of the products to value engineer and improve quality and efficiency of construction.The 3D Designer/Detailer Requirements * Approx. 5 years in 3D design, managing project design end to end* Background in design of large scale assemblies, as opposed to individual components.* Ability to work as the sole person in this position* 1-2 years background in a hands on construction role* Knowledge of BIM - advantageous* Excellent initiative and problem solving approachThe Mechanical Services Estimator Salary & Benefits Salary - £35,000 - £42,000 depending on experience and suitability for the role - (The ideal maximum salary is £40,000 however there may be an option to negotiate slightly higher than £40,000 should there be strong suitability to the requirements of the role)If you have a background in any of the following areas, please get in touch: Construction Contracts Detailer, 3D Design Manager. 3D Designer/Detailer
