Job Description

Laboratory AnalystAn exciting position for a full time laboratory analyst has arisen for my client, a large global FMCG organisation based in Waltham on the Wolds, Leicestershire, situated a few miles away from Melton Mowbray. This is an excellent opportunity to grow anddevelop within a highly renowned and unique business.

  • £11.82 ph
  • 12 month assignment
  • Mon-Fri role 37.5 hours a week, flexible start times between 6:00am and 7:30am
  • Must have own transport.
THE JOBYou will be expected to use your scientific understanding to process and analyse biological samples requiring haematology and biochemistry analysis, in accordance with trial protocols and laboratory SOPs, to generate high quality data.The role requires a high standard of organisational skills to be able to process and analyse biological samples, and will require excellent attention to detail to ensure the generation of high quality data.Main responsibilities include:
  • Processing and analysis of biological samples for haematology and biochemistry analysis in accordance with trial protocol, method documents and SOPs.
  • Accurate data recording of results, QC data and associated information and communicate results in appropriate format to internal customers.
  • Routine maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of complex laboratory equipment: the biochemistry analyser, haematology analyser and ionized calcium analyser.
  • Source, order and maintain stock levels for all consumables required for haematology and biochemistry analysis and associated activities.
  • Attend trial and project meetings to understand the context of projects and to be informed of relevant information. Input into project discussions to ensure efficient and effective delivery of clinical biochemistry analysis.
  • Communicate effectively between Research Scientists, other laboratory users and project team to update internal stakeholders on project progress and any issues.
  • To contribute to the wider laboratory team, supporting with the general lab tasks, and ensuring great teamwork. Maintain an accurate and detailed electronic laboratory notebook of all experimental work performed according to guidelines.
  • Maintain an accurate record of all samples collected and processed on the Waltham sample database. On sampling days, there is a requirement for prolonged concentration when processing and analysing a high number of samples and as such the role requiresexcellent attention to detail. Due to the need for immediate processing and analysis of some samples, the role requires some flexibility with working hours.
  • Carry out work within the laboratory in accordance with Quality and HS&E requirements.
  • Provide assistance and support to wider laboratory team to ensure the day to day running of the laboratory.
QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
  • Must be educated to A-Level standard or equivalent. A higher education qualification, such as a BSc or further education courses, in a scientific discipline is desirable.
  • Must have experience of working within a laboratory.
  • Experience of processing biological samples for routine analysis is desirable but full training can be provided.
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and quality of work.
  • Ability to effectively work to deadlines.
  • Accurate entry of information into sample databases.
