Job Description

We are embarking on a exciting journey and looking for driven and dynamic individuals to be part of this fantastic opportuntity. As a result of we are looking for an experienced Head of Continuous Improvement to join our team here at Jeld-Wen. The role is based accross our UK and French sites and are keen to find someone who is happy to travel however can be based out of either Sheffield, Melton Mowbary or Penrith (Please note that if you cannot be based from one of these sites we cannot accommodate working from from other locations)The purpose of this role:

  • Identify, lead and deploy Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives across the three UK and two French plants and business groups to deliver quantified bottom line performance improvement.
  • To establish and develop a Continous improvement (CI) culture across the five sites
  • Effective deployment of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies, business process assessment, planning, facilitation and execution of kaizen events, and the systemic improvement of standard work practices and procedures.
  • Drive positive transformation throughout the region, build and mentor effective teams and drive employee engagement, involvement and development.
  • To challenge and drive the plant managers in delivering and maintaining a savings pipeline/ project opportunity
  • To challenge and drive the plant managers in delivering productivity improvement year on year
  • To provide organisational support and direction to the Regional Operations Director and Regional COO.
  • Responsibilities:
  • Coach, mentor and educate employees to develop, support and sustain a CI culture - establish improvement as a way of life
  • Develop and deliver Productivity pipeline (improvement projects and savings)
  • Plan and deliver CI projects across region to deliver business cost reduction targets
  • Develop and challenge CI team to embed the lean tools, techniques and leadership behaviours - be an ambassador for the CI programme
  • Project managing approved CI programs by coordinating the necessary resources and setting controls to achieve the agreed objectives.
  • Facilitate and lead CI events as the subject matter expert.
  • Leverage best practices established through CI projects to other activities.
  • Execute plans by building and utilising cross-functional teams to meet/exceed business goals.
  • Coach others to enhance their personal performance by setting focused targets and objectives.
  • Monitor the cost, schedule and progress of all CI projects and events and intervene to take remedial actions where appropriate.
  • Encourage knowledge-sharing across factories to accelerate improvements and benefits
  • Experience Required:
  • The successful candidate must have strong experience in a previous CI role within a manufacturing environment, including using Lean techniques such as Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Standard Work Cellular Flow, Mistake Proofing, Total Productive Maintenance.
  • Highly skilled in Continuous Improvement/ Lean:
  • Experience of delivering a leadership development program to establish a CI culture
  • Ability to demonstrate practical implementation of the right tools and techniques to drive improvement
  • Ability to transform data analysis into defined actions and improvement program to make real impact
  • Proven capability of delivering transformational change in a multi-site/ multi-cultural role
  • Proven capability of delivering bottom line financial improvements through the implementation of CI principles
  • Experience of delivering improvements from shop floor through to strategic/ business wide projects
  • You will have good knowledge of Six Sigma principles with an ability to carry out statistical analysis such as Root Cause Analysis, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis and the Design of Experiments.
  • Ability to communicate and influence at all levels of the organisation from shop floor to Regional COO
  • Financial knowledge beneficial - experience of P&L anad understanding of operating cost, analysis and financial performance
  • Personal skills: Analytical, structured, team oriented, motivating, conflict handler, empathic, flexible, focusing and completing
  • Commitment and enthusiasm to drive change.
  • Read, write and speak English
  • Good IT skills are essential for this role.
  • Travel will be required so you must be prepared to travel and have a full driving licence.
