Job Description

Burton Park is a neurobehavioural locked rehabilitation hospital for patients with acquired brain injury and neuro-progressive conditions patient displaying co-existing neuropsychiatric conditions and challenging behaviour.There are three wards offering 50 beds. Warwick Lodge, Dalby and Cleves. A variety of care pathways are available, including acute and longer-term neurobehavioural rehabilitation and person-centred care, emphasising the least restrictive setting.The multi-disciplinary team includes psychology, nursing, occupational therapy, speech & language therapy, physiotherapy, social workers and medical.Burton Park is a member of the Independent Neurorehabilitation Providers Alliance (INPA).Roles within this job family are dedicated to providing high quality clinical care for patients referred to and using the services of the hospital. Working closely with transdisciplinary teams to ensure that clients receive a holistic and person-centric care and evidence based neurobehavioural rehabilitation, offering a psychiatric perspective to the transdisciplinary team in relation to the assessment, formulation and treatment of people with a wide variety of neuropsychiatric and neurorehabilitation needs.The post holder will hold a CCST / CCT (or equivalent) in the relevant areas of Psychiatry and will have experience of working in inpatient settings with people with an acquired brain injury and Huntington’s disease.You will be expected to take clinical responsibility for patients, including transdisciplinary ward rounds, risk reviews, strategic reviews and the development of a therapeutic milieu, as well as fulfilling the role of Responsible Clinician to patients detained under the Mental Health Act (1983).You will be required to supervise the process of referral and admission including contributing to preadmission assessments of people with Acquired brain injury and Huntingtons disease, with other team members and contributing to management meetings, clinical governance meetings for the services provided at the hospital, and contributing to the development and evaluation of services in collaboration with the Lead Consultant and Clinical Service Manager.Help deliver in-house training programmes within the services and offering supervision to other members of the trans-disciplinary team, and maintaining CPD and re-validation requirements, as determined by the Royal College of Psychiatrists or other relevant statutory bodies.Ensures the services and support provide offers good value for money and supports the overall aim of the site and is able to problem solve based upon acquiring systemic knowledge and experience where some adaptive and creative thinking is occasionally required when translating best practice and evidence based research into practical operational solutions for application within the department.KNOWLEDGE & SKILLSThey should be a good team player and be keen to participate in a transdisciplinary approach to assessment, formulation and management plans.The consultant agrees to hold and continue registration with the GMC including the relevant Specialist Register.The consultant will be expected to provide evidence of their registration, if requested, by the Hospital Director or Medical Director.Can work autonomously to agreed short and medium term objectives where professional advice will be immediately obvious.
