Job Description

Accounting SpecialistMy client, a large global FMCG organisation based in Waltham on the Wolds, Leicestershire is looking for an Accounting Specialist. This is an excellent opportunity to grow and develop within a highly renowned and unique business.Duration: Initially 3-month assignment with potential for 12 months.Pay rate: £175 per day37.50 hrs per week.Job PurposeThe role is designed to be responsible for general accounting and supporting the business partnering of the operations team. This includes periodic close in accordance with accounting principles and standards; management reporting; control; issue investigation and resolution; and supporting and influencing budget holders.The job requires focus on attention to detail, since our credibility as a function is dependent on providing accurate reporting and analysis of data. There is also a requirement to meet specific deadlines whilst maintaining data quality.Key ResponsibilitiesPeriod Close & Reporting

  • Manage and provide all periodic accounting to strict deadlines and robust governance in Atlas and Helios.
  • Ensure the Atlas prime cost, manufacturing and logistics data is reconciled to the general ledger and Helios each period, resolving any discrepancies.
  • Accurately account for prime cost variances and attribute these to the appropriate products and lines.
  • Understanding of the drivers of costs within the business and ability to produce well documented and supported accruals for all costs incurred in a period.
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting of the periodic data the European central team, factory operations teams and within the Finance organisation, highlighting key areas of risk or opportunity.
    • Standard Costing & Transfer Prices
  • Maintain the ongoing quality of the standard costs in the finance systems and calculate new standards as required.
  • Be the owner of the quarterly transfer price preparation and submission: prepare transfer prices in accordance with Petcare policies, flag any significant changes and provide insights into drivers. Ensure accurate reflection of transfer prices in Atlas and Helios.
    • Planning
  • Appreciate the relevant UK financial standards and be able to apply the Finance Manual policies in performing the role and understand the relevant financial standards for doing business in the UK. Additionally, gain full understanding of the finance manual rules relating to prime costs.
    • Costing of imported items in SAP
  • Making sure that the price for bought in items is in SAP in a timely manner aligned for all the plants for Petcare UK (GB 38 is the primary plant).
  • Be the SPOC for costing in the test system (liaise with Atlas Physical Logistics Key Users and respond to their queries).
    • Education & Professional QualificationPreferred- CIMA or ACA qualified or significant relevant business experience requiredKnowledge/Experience
  • Working knowledge / understanding of key financial statements (P&L, B/sheet and Source & Use).
  • Experience of controls frameworks and assessment.
  • Experience in a custodian finance role
  • Hands on accounting experience, including period end processes
  • Strong working knowledge of SAP and Helios/HFM
