Job Description

Overview and Responsibilities Job Title:Catering AssistantLocation: Meldreth, Nr Royston, Cambridgeshire/Hertfordshire borderContract Type: Permanent, Full timeHours: 40 hours per week (08:30 am17:00 pm)Salary: £22,880 to £23,296 per annum, depending on experienceThe Aurora GroupThe Aurora Group is an innovative provider of education and care for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.Aurora Meldreth and Orchard Manor are based on a beautiful, 14-acre site in the village of Meldreth, near Royston, where we host 3 services which include Aurora Meldreth Manor Childrens Home, Aurora Meldreth Manor School and Aurora Orchard Manor ResidentialHome. Were currently looking for aCatering Assistant to join our onsite catering team.The role:As a Catering Assistant, you will demonstrate the highest standards in cleanliness, food safety and hygiene. Assist with preparation of meals using correct portioning, meeting outlined standards and ensuring that food is at the correct temperature. Youwill keep the kitchen and food areas clean and tidy and ensure food and supply items are stored correctly.The role is very hands on. The ideal candidate will have proven organisational skills, a real passion for excellent service and a keen eye for details with the ability to work alone when required.Specific duties:

  • Support to the Cook in meal preparation.
  • Keeping the kitchen environment clean and tidy at all times, including washing all kitchen. & catering equipment, surfaces and floors.
  • Unloading of food and beverage deliveries as required.
  • Food storage in accordance with outlined standards.
  • Delivering and serving of food as required.
Skills and Qualifications Skill, knowledge and Experience:
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene & Safety (Catering) essential.
  • Working knowledge of health and safety legislation (including COSHH regulations, manual handling, and food hygiene procedures) and requirements in relation to food preparation.
  • Knowledge of Natashas Law.
  • Experienced in carrying out regular equipment/maintenance checks and appropriate recording of checks done.
  • Good standards of literacy, numeracy, written and verbal communication.
  • Possess good working knowledge of kitchen equipment and cleaning schedules.
  • Proven ability to prioritise tasks and work flexibly.
  • Committed to promoting the health, welfare and safeguarding of children and young adults.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Positive work attitude.
