Job Description

Job Purpose:To provide high standards of childcare and education, including providing a safe, caring environment to enable the development of the whole child through individual attention and group activities.To work under the direction of the NurseryManager and follow the guidelines and statutory requirements set down by Ofsted and the EYFS.Dimensions:Direct responsibility for assigned key childrenDirect responsibility for all the children within the nurseryTeamworkLiaise with parent andcarers Key Accountabilities:To deliver a programme of activities suitable to the age range of the children in conjunction with other staffDeliver a programme of childcare which meets legislative standards and considers children from differing cultures,religious backgrounds and those who may have additional needsTo develop, lead and motivate a team, ensuring performance is maximised and potential managedDeliver a programme of childcare from birth to 5 years old which meets legislative standards andconsiders children from differing cultures, religious backgrounds and those who may have additional needsMaintain and develop appropriate systems to file childrens developmental recordsProvide strong support for the ensuring safe working practices andstaff ratios are effectively deployed to adequately meet the needs of the childrenTo have due regard for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and to follow the child protection procedures adopted by the Company.To assist the supervisionand development of all staff ensuring any matters are dealt with promptlyTo assist the deputy manager and manager in the supervision of training students in placement and volunteers within the nurseryTo assist the deputy manager and manager with theefficient upkeep of maintenance/stock of equipment, furnishing and fittings ensuring the nursery environment is safe, hygienic, tidy and well presented at all timesTo keep accurate and up to date profiles on key children.To be responsible for the Healthand Safety standards appropriate for the needs of young children.To ensure confidentiality of information received Version 2 updated August 2015Demonstrate positive and proactive attitudes and behaviors throughout the nursery.Liaise professionallywith parents, other carers, and staff to help ensure that the particular needs of children are met.Ensure the nursery environment is safe, hygienic, tidy, and well presented at all times.Ensure all Company procedures are followed correctly e.g. recordingof accidents and the collection of children.Ensure mealtimes are a valuable social occasion and allergies considered.Washing and changing of children as required.To attend staff meetings, training sessions, and promotional events outside normal workinghours.To attend all courses that are required, as requested by the Nursery Manager. Other Accountabilities: To take responsibility for personal compliance and align with Company Health and Safety Policies, ensuring safe working practices are maintainedwhich minimize the risk to self, work colleagues, parents, carers and children. Education & QualificationsGCSE Mathematics and English or equivalentEvidence of furtherlevel NVQ level 3 / 4 qualifications or equivalent 2.
