Job Description

EMC, Electronic Test & Approvals EngineerTrainee role with development opportunitiesMansfield areaUp to £30kA successful growing organisation in the Mansfield area are looking to recruit for an EMC Test & Approvals Engineer to work within their engineering team. You will be responsible for undertaking EMC and Environmental testing of products and new developmentsto ensure compliance with ensure all products comply to all quality and EU standards.The role can be very repetitive so you will need to be Self-motivated with good attention to detail it will include:

  • Environmental / EMC testing of current and new products during development and approval stages.
  • Liaise with set up, organise, and attend external Labs for compliance testing (EMC, vibration and shock testing or environmental).
  • Document test procedures and produce customer-facing reports.
  • Risk analysis and standards assessment for CE and UKCA marking
As the Electronic, EMC Test & Approvals Engineer you will have an appreciation of the following however training will be given for gaps in working experience:
  • Hold minimum HNC in Electronics
  • A working knowledge of product EMC and environmental testing procedures and ideally some working experience
  • Must be able to work on own initiative as well as be an effective team member.
  • Able to demonstrate all-round technical/electronics capability.
  • Some knowledge of the Low Voltage Directive and EMC directives.
  • Knowledge in reading, interpreting and testing of harmonised standards for engineering technical construction files.
  • High concentration levels and attention to detail.
  • High level of IT skills with knowledge of Microsoft packages and an ability to quickly understand and use other software systems.
  • Willing to undertake relevant specialist training where required.
  • A solid background in EMC testing for the industrial environment
  • A good level of experience on using various testing equipment: EMC receivers, spectrum analysers, signal generators, antennas, GTEM, EFT and surge generators
  • Good understanding of the BSI EN 61000-6-4 and BSI EN 61000-6-2 standards
  • Operation and programming of environmental chambers.
  • Knowledge of automotive EMC standards and testing procedures for the E11 approval
We are keen to hear from anyone with experience of:
  • Work experience in a UKAS accredited test lab
  • Experience in product compliance analysis and testing methods
  • Experience with the UL standards and approvals
