The Coal Authority has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Hydrogeologist to join the team based in Mansfield on a full time, permanent basis in return for a competitive salary of £21,844 - £31,042 per annum.You can be forgiven if you’ve never heard of us before. There are a number of benefits that you’ll be able to access being a part of our inclusive team including flexi time, 27.5 days holiday (with an additional 6 days flexi time), civil service pension scheme, gym membership contribution, and professional membership.The Assistant Hydrogeologist role:This is an exciting, challenging, Assistant Hydrogeologist role with our Technical Team within the Environment department and offers excellent opportunities for growth and development for achieving Chartered status.Responsibilities of our Assistant Hydrogeologist:- Providing expert advice on hydrogeology of abandoned coal and metal mines- Analysing and managing the monitoring of data collected throughout the coalfields of Great Britain in order to predict where, and when, new polluting discharges may occur due to rising mine water- Involved in delivery of a growing number of commercial mine water projects- Contributing to the development of future strategies to prevent pollution- Designing and project managing new boreholes- Representing us at meetings with regulators, researchers, and many others- Answering enquiries about mine water from the public and industry alikeWhat we’re looking for in ourAssistant Hydrogeologist:- Degree in Geology or similar- Relevant qualification and experience in hydrogeology- Supervision and management of contractors- Knowledge of drilling techniques and geophysical logging- Experience of GIS systems- Experience in managing large, complex datasets- Great computer literacy- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be self-motivated- An ability to manage and prioritise a high-volume workloadIf you believe you are the right candidate for the role as our Assistant Hydrogeologist then please click ‘apply’ now!
