Job Description

The successful transport planner will be responsible for the planning and routing for the following days transport operations. The role will also involve briefing the drivers on jobs whilst liaising with customers and sub-contractors. The shifts for thisrole will be 12:00 - 22:00Client DetailsA family run business that has grown rapidly in size but maintains the close family culture, this is a great opportunity to be part of a team that has exciting long term plans!My client based in Manchester is a rapidly expanding family run business specialising in transport solutions specialising in air freight and moving shipments across the UK and Europe.DescriptionThe key duties for the role for the Transport planner role include:

  • Planning and routing for the following day transport operations
  • Plan and manage drivers, vehicles and sub-contractors to allocated routes and load
  • Update company systems to ensure an efficient operation
  • Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction - keep in regular contact with drivers, and subcontractors
  • Managing a fleet of 15 vehicles ranging from 18 tonne to 7.5 tonne and Arctic trucks
  • Loading new jobs on a daily basis
  • Answer calls from customers and sub-contractors
ProfileThe successful candidate for the role of Transport Planner will be experienced within a transport planning role. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong level of geographical knowledge.Other responsibilities are as follows:
  • Experience dealing with automated transport planning tools
  • Strong communication skills in order to deliver accurate information
  • Attention to detail/accuracy
  • Ability to build relationships with customers and stakeholders
  • Plan and optimise time effectively and efficiently
  • Knowledge of computerised routing and scheduling systems
My candidate use Podfather planning systems so experience using this tool is advantageous but not essentialJob OfferThe salary for this role is up to £30,000 plus a generous benefits package.
