We are recruiting for a Streetworks Scientist, to work for United Utilities on a contract basis for 4 months initially. You will be responsible for the day to day planning and delivery of analytical outputs and facilitating method development, validation and accreditation, operating within a tightly regulated Quality System, whilst satisfying the requirements of customers andregulators. You will also provide support and advice to on site testing and sample extraction and providing detained technical advice on the interpretation of results to a variety of New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 (NRSWA), related regulations, United Kingdom AccreditationService (UKAS) and codes/best practice standards.Accountabilities* Direct Production activities* Participate in activities necessary for the efficient operation of an analytical production laboratory* Attain competency under a continuing professional development process* Improvements in technical working practices* Supporting investigation of anomalous results under analytical quality control* Support implementation of new equipment/improved techniques from own team.* Best practice integration and continuous improvement * Initiate equipment maintenance and repair * Essential communication, influencing and interpersonal skills within team* IT and LIMS skills* Understanding of Health and Safety.Knowledge and Skills* Scientifically adept with recent practical laboratory skills * Demonstration of Competent person and analyst status in all street works analytical techniques (and sample collection, preparation and transportation), including fully compliant CPD* Good understanding of ISO 17025, NRSWA, SROH and all other related regulatory requirements * Good planning and organisational skills Desirable Criteria* Experience of high-volume testing and working to high quality levels would be an advantage.Should your application be successful, and you are offered the role, a number of pre-employment checks need to be carried out before your appointment can be confirmed.
