Job Description

The Strategic Sourcing Specialist will lead the strategic sourcing activities, including defining and implementing the supply chain strategy for the Manchester plant. Youll be responsible for identifying and managing the supply chain, covering pricing,lead times and visiting suppliers (UK based).Client DetailsIm representing a highly successful, global precision engineering business, as they look to strengthen their purchasing department based in Manchester.DescriptionThe Strategic Sourcing Specialist will have the following responsibilities:

  • Run sourcing projects including, negotiating all commercial terms and conditions and supplier management.
  • Ensure reliability of supply by developing supply chain risk mitigation and contingency plans, to improve material availability.
  • Strategic commodity plan with growth opportunities.
  • Management of engineering procurement parts queue [responsible for management of parts and driving improved costs / shorter setup times.]
  • Monthly sales order margin/cost reviews.
  • Supplier performance. Conduct regular reviews with key suppliers for driving continuous improvements.
  • Performs total cost analysis to identify improvement opportunities for low performance suppliers
  • Key contact for the Tactical purchasing team and Operations for recurring and escalated supplier performance issues like deliveries and quality, supporting plant needs.
  • Promotes collaborative working between between suppliers and Tactical purchasing, Engineering, Quality to drive initiatives that will ensure material availability.
  • Indirect cost saving initiatives where applicable.
ProfileThe successful candidate for the Strategic Sourcing Specialist role will ideally have the following key skills & qualities:
  • Background in heavy engineering - ideally purchased castings, forgings & fabrications
  • Worked in a similar strategic sourcing role
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: Supply, Engineering or Operations
  • Work experience in a manufacturing engineered to order environment
  • Ability to work independently under pressure, prioritise multiple tasks and drive for results
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and presentation)
  • Good IT skills (Microsoft Office)
  • SAP knowledge and experience
Job Offer
  • £40,000 - £50,000
