At present the dedicated team comprises of 5 fee earners. The team currently comprises of 14 fee earners and 3 legal administrators. The workis fast-moving, varied and challenging.Markel Law LLP (Markel Law) is an independent SRA authorised and regulated legal business offering services to both insured and non-insured clients. Our clients and business partners comprise businesses, high net worth individuals, and associations acrossa broad spectrum of industries.We operate out of offices in Manchester, Leeds, London and Croydon and employ over 60 specialist solicitors. Our legal teams guide, support, defend and protect clients through a wide range of key legal services.What youll be doing:Provide initial prospects opinions to insurers on a wide variety of civil disputes, including those relating to breach of contract, nuisance, property disputes, boundary disputes, professional negligence and constructionBe expected to manage a case load of their own, including recommending reserves and setting strategies under the supervision of senior fee earners.Have a mixed case load of claimant and defendant workWork predominantly on cases that are funded under legal expenses insurance policies, but will also gain exposure to privately funded mattersEmbrace the challenge of expanding their knowledge into new areas of lawDeliver clear, accurate and pragmatic advice based on both the legal and commercial realities of a clients positionProvide our clients with in an efficient and courteous service at all timesBe expected to deliver on billing and other key performance indicatorsEnsure all files are progressed and maintained within required standards and in line with relevant procedureHave the opportunity to develop their understanding of the insurance industry and the contribution an insurance panel law firm can make to the success of a large insurance companyOur must haves:Have existing commercial litigation experienceHave a good understanding of the Civil Procedure RulesHave previous experience dealing with insurance claims (in particular, legal expenses insurance claims) and may well come from an established insurance-focused firm or teamBe accustomed to running their own caseload under supervisionDemonstrate strong communication and organisational skills with an ability to prioritise workloadHave good IT skills, certainly with experience in using Microsoft Office 2010 and case management systems (preferably Partner for Windows)Be able to work under pressureDeliver against tight deadlines and display key time management skills when prioritising tasks to ensure compliance with deadlinesHave high attention to detail and accuracy in their workDemonstrate first-class client care and communication skills across all levelsDemonstrate an ability to develop relationships with key internal and external partnersHave excellent written communication skillsBe an effective teammate, demonstrating a positive can do attitude and displaying co-operative interaction with team membersWho we are:Markel Corporation (NYSE - MKL) a Fortune 500 company with over 60 offices in 20+ countries, is a holding company for insurance, reinsurance, specialist advisory and investment operations around the world.Were all about people | We win together | We strive for better| We enjoy the everyday We think furtherAvencia are an RPO providing a recruitment service to our client, Markel.Whats in it for you:
