Job Description

Were hiring a .NET Software Engineer with experience of Azure to join our customer engagement team. The mission of the team is to improve the Footasylum loyalty scheme that rewards customers for money spent in store and online.This is a chance to innovate and experiment at scale, build services that millions of customers will interact with and work in an inclusive product team that aligns with our e-commerce and in-store retail teams and their goals.Weve been going through a digital transformation, changing how we deliver value to our business. We want to create a place for teams to do their best work, and youll have the opportunity to influence our decisions, help define standards across the teams and contribute to a healthy and happy working environment The Team The team is made up of a delivery manager, a product manager, a designer, QA and software engineers. We like to keep our teams small enough that they become a unit of delivery, but large enough that people can pair and mob on tasks and knowledge can be shared out.Heres some real examples of what the software engineers on the team have been working on recently, to give you an idea of the kinds of things youd be doing:

  • Building an integration with a third-party SaaS using Azure Function Apps
  • Creating an API test harness using Logic Apps
  • Implementing an event-based backend using Event Hubs
  • Consuming internal APIs from our Platform team
  • Configuring CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps
  • Implementing integration tests into the CI pipeline
  • Rolling out new Azure infrastructure using Terraform

Responsibilities
  • Being an integral part of our customer engagement team.
  • Running experiments and creating proof of concepts to test project assumptions.
  • Creating a stable and scalable application architecture to support business growth.
  • Working towards and implementing better practices such as test-driven development, SOLID principles and clean code.
  • Using the framework and foundations defined by the development team, i.e. Data First, TDD, DevOps.
  • Supporting the professional development of their community and championing continuous improvement.
  • Helping to collaborate and co-ordinate activities on joint objectives.
  • Essential
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to clearly visualise and describe technical solutions.
  • Experience integrating with 3rd party systems using RESTful APIs.
  • Experience migrating data between SaaS systems.
  • A good understanding of lean UX and how to build the right thing for the end user.
  • Broad knowledge of the software development lifecycle.
  • Experience developing .NET applications in C# using ASP.NET Core.
  • Experience in building and deploying cloud-based applications and backend services in Microsoft Azure, using .NET and Function Apps.
  • Confident working with other teams to create and consume web services.
  • Values data-driven decisions over opinions.
