JOB AD:This position offers the opportunity to join the software team, within the Space Systems design centre in Manchester. You will help develop the next generation of satellite modems targeted at applications in both the satellite payload and ground systems using cloud-based hubs and gateways.The satellite industry is going through an exciting revolution, moving away from small numbers of simple bent pipe satellites in geostationary orbits, to 1000s of smart, networked satellites in low to medium orbits, these satellites will process data on board. Become an integral member of the team driving this revolution.- Define product requirements and software architectures to satisfy them by liaising with Customers, Product Managers and other internal design teams- Work in close collaboration with our Architecture team on modelling the system level behaviour of software defined radio (SDR) SoC modems, with a view to optimising its hardware/software architecture.Skills and Experience:Essential:- Experience in embedded software development and on-target testing using C/C++ in bare metal and RTOS environments.- Experience in software simulation using Instruction Set Simulator (ISS) models as well as target embedded processor architecture.- Experience in software-based profiling by instrumenting code using profilers like the GNUs gprof.- Experience in building application software in C/C++ for profiling using GNU gprof.- Experience in gathering the application software profiling data and analysing GNU flat profiles, call graphs- Experience of Virtual Platform (VP) creation and software simulation environments using SystemCDesirable:- Experience in Design Space Exploration (DSE) using profiled data as a guide to partitioning the system for hardware/software trade-offs.- Experience with MIPS architecture and tools such as Codescape.This role is based in the Manchester office although some occasional travel may be required to visit customers, suppliers or other design centres.
