Summary A truly once in a career opportunity to lead the next phase of the reimagination of Castlefield Viaduct into an iconic heritage destination, new public greenspace and sustainable travel corridor.As the Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for the critical planning and implementation stages, through to leading the next exciting phase of the Castlefield Viaduct project.For several years,local people and organisations in the community have been passionate about finding a future for Castlefield viaduct which has lay derelict since 1968.The vision is to transform Castlefield viaduct into a free-to-access park and meeting place for people and nature linked into the local community. Imagine a hidden oasis sitting above this busy city. It will be a space that respects the listed structure,celebrates the nature, beauty and history of the viaduct, and fits in with existing plans for the city.To enable us to test ideas and get feedback about the future use of the space, we will open the viaduct as a temporary park for 12 months from July 2022 - https://castlefield-viaductBuilding on the momentum and learning drawn from this initial phase we want an inspirational leader with versatile project management, business case and partnership skills to develop and deliver a bigger, bolder more permanent vision for the viaduct. We know the positive impact they have on peoples lives because places matter, to our wellbeing, our spirit, and our relationships.You will be part of the National Trusts urban team who have a role to improve access to nature, history and beauty for residents in towns and cities across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The team also have an exciting remit to think differently abouthow the National Trust can deliver its charitable purpose through news ways of working and delivering. What youll be doing You will report into the Head of Urban and work closely with local operations and the consultancy team in our North region.You will lead on all elements of the next phase of the project from the initial concept stage, working to a highly engaged project board and supported by an internal consultancy and specialist network within the National Trust.You will be required to oversee the development of a viable business model (working with the visitor operations team) and compelling business cases to persuade partners and funders to invest in the project. This will include supporting formal and informalfunding bids.You will lead on the design and masterplan process for the next phase working with architects, landscape architects and other design specialists. This will draw on feedback and lessons learned from the pilot phase of the project and encompass the viaductand area around.You will lead on managing the required statutory and planning consents needed for the project to progress.You will be required to obtain external professional consultancy services to support development of the project through competitive tender processes and consultant frameworks.A key aspect of this project is engaging and building relationships with stakeholders and you must be really comfortable working in a matrix environment deploying your considerable influencing skills. Youll be working closely with a range of partners andthe local community to consult closely as the project develops.You will be expected to work in Manchester for at least three days a week onsite, in the office or meeting partners. Beyond this you will have the option to work flexibly.You will also be a senior member of our project and programme management community in the National Trust, and we are looking for an active and enthusiastic contributor in this space.
