Job Description

A bit about the role... We are looking for a great candidate to fill a Senior Growth Manager role in the Affordable Housing Growth Team. Our team works with local authorities, housing associations and other affordable housing providers to support the development of affordable homesthrough our grant funding programmes.You would play a key part in improving many peoples’ overall quality of life by enabling them to secure an affordable home. You will make a vital contribution to affordable housing grant bids being generated, assessed and approved through the Single HomelessnessAccommodation Programme Accommodation (SHAP) and via our Continuous Market Engagement (CME) allocation route.The post will be based in the Northern and Midlands regions and may include line management responsibility.Your primary focus will be to increase the supply of high-quality longer-term accommodation for rough sleepers and vulnerable young people at risk of or experiencing homelessness or rough sleeping, with funding through our Single Homelessness AccommodationProgramme. As this programme evolves from the bid submission stage into delivery the role’s focus would evolve into supporting the relevant affordable housing growth priority at that time, which could be general needs or specialist housing provision.You will need to lead, build and maintain effective relationships with local authorities, strategic partners, housing associations, DLUHC Advisers and others, to plan and implement developments that meet local strategic housing need and demand across selectedpriority local authority areas.Our Senior Growth Managers play an important role in supporting the team and working with partners to develop and deliver a pipeline of new high quality affordable housing schemes. Our ambitious plan is to invest the £7.4bn Affordable Housing Programme withpartners, to deliver more affordable homes across the country by 2026.The team works in a collaborative way, valuing diversity in backgrounds and experience to enable good decision making and problem solving. This is a great opportunity to develop your existing key skills and knowledge of the affordable housing developmentsector, or to bring your transferable skills into this role and develop your career in a new sector.This is a great opportunity to help shape the future of affordable housing delivery in a fast growing, national organisation with real social purpose.A bit about you… We’re looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic candidates who:Have an understanding of the homelessness context across a number of priority places in the North/Midlands or an understanding of the general need, specialist and supported housing sector across a number of priority places in the North/MidlandsCan work closely and in collaboration with DLUHC specialist advisory teams and local authorities to develop holistic and sustainable plans for specialist new housing supply. For example, those with a history of rough sleeping, or young people at risk ofrough sleepingSupport and work collaboratively with local affordable housing providers, local authority housing leads, and local support organisations, to translate this strategic need into real, high quality development/delivery opportunitiesDrive innovation and best practice in the provision of accommodation that best meets the needs of certain client groups, for example homeless peopleProvide specialist advice and expertise on housing supply solutions that can complete within a tight delivery timescaleWork collaboratively with colleagues to provide a Homes England voice to local and industry bodies for specialist and supported housingSupport the Homes England affordable housing team and DLUHC with intelligence and insightful evidence from across the sectorSupport the Affordable Housing Growth team to increase wider affordable housing supply in collaboration with delivery partners (housing associations, local authorities, specialist and community providers and private sector property developers)To do this you will need to: Collate, analyse and present complex information clearly both in writing and verbally.Balance competing demands on your time to ensure the right things are done at the right time.Quickly learn how to use existing systems and have the creativity and confidence to suggest new ways of working.Have a good understanding of the affordable housing sector and development and a passion to enable more affordable homes to be built.Work flexibly and always be looking for ways to improve and innovate.Delivering on a mission as bold as ours isn’t always easy. Your approach in discussions will always be shaped by a good understanding of the commercialand operational impact of what we do as an affordable housing team.
