Job Description

Role OverviewWe are looking for an experienced Senior Downstream Scientist to join a growing biotechnology organisation based in Manchester. You will be joining a dynamic, innovative organisation and take part in collaborations with world leaders in the industry.Duties and Responsibilities

  1. You will be responsible for leading the scale up of integrated production and separation technology process to commercial scale.
  2. Setting up the pilot facility will be among your duties.
  3. You will be responsible for liaising with the fermentation team, ensuring all fermentation activities are in line with project demands. Working with the design team will be among your duties to ensure infrastructure is in place for upscaling the technology.
  4. As the Senior Downstream Scientist, you will play a key role in the future development, scale up and process development for additional projects.
  5. Implementation of process control systems and development of new technology will be among your duties.
Education and ExperienceWe are looking to identify the following skills and experience in your profile:
  1. BSc, MSc or PhD in a relevant scientific discipline and a number of years of industry experience working on scale up of fermentation processes and running a range of bioreactors from benchtop to industrial scale.
  2. Implementing control systems and experience of calculations useful in design, operation and scale up of fermentations and downstream processes.
  3. Knowledge and understanding of lipid quantification, purification techniques, phase separation would be highly beneficial to your application.
