Have you supported teenagers beforeAre you passionate about helping young people achieve their full potentialIf so, then this could be the role for you!I am recruiting for a Secondary Teaching Assistant in the Manchester area to start in September on a full time basis at a Secondary SEMH school (Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs).

• Secondary Teaching Assistant at secondary SEMH school in Manchester.
• Starting in September on a full time & long term basis.
• Could turn permanent for the right person.
• Hours are 8:30am - 3:30pm.
• Pay up to £80/day.

The role

• Provide academic, behavioural, emotional & pastoral support.
• Working in class, corridor, communal areas & on trips.
• Supporting students in groups & sometimes 1:1 when required.
• You must collaborate closely with the teacher and other TAs in the class to provide holistic support to your students.
• You will need to learn about each students needs and triggers in order to help them learn to self-regulate their emotions.
• Pupils will need lots of motivation, encouragement & positive reinforcement.
• You will need to be resilient and happy to persevere over time to see progress with your students.
• Great chance to build meaningful & impactful relationships with young people and make a real difference to their life chances.

• This secondary school caters for young people aged 11-16 with Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs (SEMH).
• All pupils have an EHCP for special needs including Social, Emotional or Mental Health needs, SEMH, ADHD or Autism.
• Rated Good by Ofsted.
• There is a real team atmosphere with people pulling together to overcome challenges and have fun along the way.
• Possible to access by train, tram, bus or car.

To join us and be successful in this Secondary Teaching Assistant role, you will need to:

• Some experience with challenging behaviours either in education or from another sector such as residential, care, youth work or sports.
• Have an enhanced DBS certificate (or be happy to apply for a new one), Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional references checks.
• Provide a CV with at least 10 years employment/education history included and any employment breaks must be explained.
• Have the legal right to work in the UK.
