Empowering Learning Manchester are working with a Primary School based in Tameside who are looking for a Site Manager to work at a Primary school in StalybridgeThe successful candidate will take pride in how this welcoming school look and function and be able to work strategically when dealing with staff management and health and safety. The successful school caretaker will have a good range of experience includinggeneral DIY, cleaning and maintenance and will be able to communicate effectively with a range of people including pupils, parents, staff, visitors and contractors. An NVQ Level 3 in a related subject such as plumbing, electrics or joinery or an equivalentlevel of experience will be essential.Purpose of this positionTo be responsible for the planning and delivery of all aspects of maintenance and health and safety relating to the Schools buildings and grounds, including the maintenance, security and facilities management on the school premises and site to ensure asafe environment for staff, pupils and visitors to the school.KEY TASKS - Maintenance & Improvement1.To be responsible for the performance of the school site team and to initiate and contribute ideas to continuously improve the performance and quality of the site maintenance service, and the development of the school site and facilities to enhance the teachingand learning environment.2.To plan, develop, implement and progress the maintenance service to deliver an effective repair and maintenance provision.3. To work with the Business Manager to prepare to negotiate best value contracts with authorised suppliers, to ensure cost effectiveness of the premises provision within relevant health and safety regulations.4. To establish constructive relationships and communication with contractors and other agencies and professionals, and oversee that contractors are observing the appropriate health & safety/safeguarding procedures when on site.5. To monitor performance of contracts and record performance against specified standards, reporting back to the Business Manager as required.6. Operation of heating plant, cooling and lighting systems, ensuring the premises are at the correct temperature a designated times, and the water is at an appropriate temperature.KEY TASKS - Supervision7. To supervise a team of premises and cleaning staff undertaking duties including working with the Business Manager to determine staffing levels required, assisting with recruitment and selection, inducting new members of staff, allocating and organisingworkloads, training and performance management.STANDARD DUTIES1.To understand the importance of inclusion, equality and diversity, both when working with pupils and with colleagues, and to promote equal opportunities for all.2.To uphold and promote the values and the ethos of the school.3.To implement and uphold the policies, procedures and codes of practice of the School, including relating to customer care, finance, data protection, ICT, health & safety, anti-bullying and safeguarding/child protection.4.To take a pro-active approach to health and safety, working with others in the school to minimise and mitigate potential hazards and risks, and actively contribute to the security of the school, e.g. challenging a stranger on the premises.5. To participate and engage with workplace learning and development opportunities, subject to the schools training plan, working to continually improve own performance and that of the team/school.6. To attend and participate in relevant meetings as appropriate.7. To undertake any other additional duties commensurate with the grade of the post.KEY TASKS - Health & Safety8. To ensure compliance with agreed health and safety policies and procedures and COSHH regulations with regard to the site and maintenance equipment, materials and general safety.9. To regularly review and update risk assessments, develop appropriate action plans to mitigate potential hazards and communicate updates to staff.10. To ensure that all material and electric equipment and systems are maintained, tested and serviced in accordance with health & safety legislation and recommended practices and that appropriate records are kept.The school are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our children and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
