Whether working in Compliance, Operational Risk, Enterprise Risk, Credit Risk, Retail or Business Finance Risk, everyone helps to implement and embed a risk management ethos and culture that ensures our customers are treated fairly whilst supporting our business model and strategic priorities.As a Regulatory Risk Officer, you will work closely, in the second line, with the business and specialist risk colleagues to ensure that regulation is understood and managed effectively by the first line. A key part of the role includes providing advice and guidance on day-to-day compliance and conduct risk matters, as well as helping to ensure that regulatory change is effectively implemented. In addition, you will work collaboratively with a relationship management approach, assisting the business to achieve a balance between delivering its commercial objectives, maintaining high standards of regulatory adherence and delivering good customer outcomes in line with regulatory expectations.The role of Regulatory Risk Officer is really important to us.When the time is right, we would love to welcome you to one of our hub offices in either Cardiff or Manchester. In the meantime you will be based remotely. Youll be made to feel part of your new team by your Line Manager, Regulatory Risk Manager and colleagues through regular contact and virtual interaction. What would your day look like

  • Provide day-to-day regulatory advice and guidance to the business to ensure on-going compliance - and where more technical queries arise, liaise with the Technical Regulatory Risk team in order to facilitate expertise being obtained.
  • Work with key stakeholders across business units and group functions to implement regulatory risk best practice.
  • Ensure that Regulatory Risk oversight is appropriate around the Aldermore Groups policies and frameworks in order to ensure on-going regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure key Regulatory Risk systems & controls are in place and effective, understood and documented in the RCSA. This should include (but not limited to) Marketing & Financial Promotions; Training & Competency; Remuneration; Product Design/Changes; and Assurance.
  • Provide regulatory risk oversight around specific projects as well as the overall (as requested) Change portfolio to ensure all risks relating to the projects are documented, assessed and agreed with relevant stakeholders.
  • What do we expect of you
  • We are looking for someone with prior knowledge and experience of working in a second line regulatory role - ideally gained in Banking or Consumer Credit.
  • Maintain an up to date knowledge of internal policies & procedures as well as the appropriate trade, market and regulatory developments.
  • Support Regulatory Risk Manager in analysis and production of thematic and BAU management information.
  • Provide effective communication between second and first line risk teams in order to raise exceptions and ensure these are acted upon.
  • Maintaining a good understanding of current Bank relevant risks / issues / events enabling constructive challenge and informative reporting.
  • Great reporting skills - ability to translate data into information and draft reports to senior leaders and Executive Committees.
  • Strong awareness of regulation within a financial services environment.
