Job Description

Your new roleRegional Facilities Manager (North)We currently have a great opportunity within the Finance and Business Services Directorate to join our Estates & Facilities dept. as a Regional Facilities Manager for the Northern Region, from Wakefield and Warrington in the south of the region to Penrith and Alnwick in the north. The role involves managing regional facilities operations within our estate portfolio including working with local teams and the facilities management provider to maintain the FM estate to maximise financial and operational performance, minimise organisational risk and ensure compliance with the FM contract. The role will also involve identifying and sponsoring large and small-scale projects in our evolving operational estate to provide a safe environment for HE staff and visitors to our buildingsWhat youll be leading on

  • Ensuring health and safety management is maintained on all buildings within area of responsibility and that all works undertaken comply fully with health and safety legislation, best practice and company policy by assessing safety performance to minimise risks, develop improvements and escalate issues with relevant authorities in a timely manner.
  • Managing small scale projects including lifecycle works ensuring performance and quality levels are met throughout their full term and risks to delivery are treated in a timely manner.
  • Conducting effective governance of contracts and work orders, ensuring administration and resource management are maintained at optimal levels using appropriate metrics and techniques for performance measurement.
  • Using reporting and recording to identify options and opportunities for improvement in service quality, performance, delivery and pricing.
  • Carrying out regular assessment of contractual and commercial which may affect business continuity, and manage effective contingency planning. Maintaining professional and technical partnerships with suppliers and other stakeholders to manage customer relations and enable early identification and timely resolution of issues.
  • Acting as the lead operational facilities manager for the North, providing the link between site teams and management.
  • Helping to develop team members, to continually improve individual and team performance and work methods
    • To be successful
  • IWFM qualified or equal discipline (e.g. CIBSE, RICS), capable of achieving professional membership or technical qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • Project management skills with the capability to engage effectively with professional, technical and other service delivery partners.
  • Competent negotiator able to maximise delivery and achieve best value from supply chain.
  • IOSH or NEBOSH qualifications and experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of industry best practice in service delivery
  • NEC 3 or NEC4 contract knowledge, experience and accreditation is desirable.
  • Ability to regularly travel to all sites in the region, with the main offices being in Manchester and Leeds. A full driving licence is essential.
