Job Description

Currently recruiting for an R&D Chemist for a leading ink manufacturer to work within a dynamic R&D team for their site based in Greater Manchester. As an R&D Chemist, you will be responsible for planning and implementing ad range of formulation based research projects supporting the ink-jet function, including research activities within areas such as polymer formulation, colour matching, colourants and ink physical properties.To be considered for this R&D Chemist you will be degree educated in Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry or closely related subject, with significant experience spent within the inks or coatings sector, ideally with water-based inkjet formulation experience. We will also consider applicants with a strong formulation background in inks, coatings, dispersions and colourants.. This role also requires some level of flexibility, with any normal year the role requiring around 10% travel nationally and internationally.Key Responsibilities

  • Planning and implementing new R&D projects regarding ink-jet inks.
  • Leading ink-jet research activities, as well as projects involving colourants, colour matching, polymer formulation and physical testing.
  • Lead process improvement projects.
  • Maintain technical expertise across a range of inks and coatings including new advanced and developments within the industry.
  • Communicate with various internal departments including Technical Services, QC, Production and Sales regarding your work.
  • Support manufacturing and quality functions with expert technical support.
  • Travel up to 10% annually both nationally and internationally.
  • Knowledge and Experience
  • A minimum BSc educated in Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry or closely related subject.
  • Significant experience spent industrially on the development of water-based inks, coatings or dispersions, ideally ink-jet ink.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft software.
