Job Description

Competitive salary package Your new companyThe company are a specialist drug development and commercialisation service provider for the large pharmaceutical and biotech industries. They work across all stages of drug developments, ranging from contract chemical process research and development of APIs through to clinical trials and commercial usage. They are a multinational organisation headquartered in India, with specialist sites in the Netherlands focused on production of high-quality Cholesterol and Vitamin D analog products. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Project Chemist to join the PR&D team and oversee a range of chemical projects in drug development. The key responsibilities and requirements of the role are outlined below.Your new roleAs a Project Chemist, you will be overseeing the overall scope of project delivery for both company and customer driven projects. Working closely with team leaders the chemical projects need to be carried out in a professional and safe manner, producing results to the required quality and within set deadlines and allocated budgets set by the company, to ensure individual and company targets are met.Responsibilities

  • To collaborate with other scientists to ensure completion of all projects within deadline and budget.
  • Support troubleshooting and problem solving for any project related issues.
  • Continually monitor project progression and update customers regularly throughout the duration of each project.
  • Manage the work of Development and Kilo laboratory chemists to ensure that project targets are met.
  • Ensure that the raw material requirements for laboratory research investigations and production operations are understood and well organised.
  • To communicate reports both written and verbally, when required, to both customers and work colleagues
  • Make sure that the lab to plant transfer documentation, batch records, deviation and out of specification investigations are issued.
  • Communicate the planning of projects for vessel allocation requirements to the production department.
  • Ensure the purchasing requirements for projects are met and ensure is undertaken within the quality system.
  • Provide expertise to the production department for any chemical processes which may require attention or the issuing of a deviation.
  • To ensure a clean, safe and tidy work laboratory environment adhering to company policy on 5S.
  • Ensure a quality communication line with the QC and Production department to effectively communicate project objectives to the relevant project team leads.
  • Ensure all work is to an appropriate standard, correct procedures are followed, and suggestions are made to help ensure they are maintained and developed throughout.
  • Requirements
  • Qualified to MSc / PhD standard in a Chemistry related subject
  • 3 years relevant experience required, in particular experience with developing processes and pilot to productions plants.
  • Must be proficient in the use of MS Word and Excel, chemical structure drawing and literature searching software such as Chemdraw and Reaxys.
  • Self-motivated and passionate individual, with excellent communication skills.
  • Relationship building and leadership skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to handle multiple complex projects at once.
