Job Description

This person will play a key role in ensuring that the manufacturing plant runs smoothly, by putting together an efficient plan and seeing it through, whilst working collaboratively with various departments.Client DetailsThe client Im representing are a highly regarded, market leading, food manufacturing business, which supply an array of products to many sectors across the globe. With several offices across the UK, youll be joining their supply chain team based in Manchester.DescriptionThe Production Planner will have the following responsibilities:

  • Responsible for planning and execution of the short term production plan (1-2 weeks), taking into account analysis of sales volumes when creating the plan
  • Coordinate the short term plan with long term forecasts and their execution
  • Escalate any deviations from the production plan
  • Maintain stock levels and monitor inventory availability based on customer order requirements and available on-site storage capacity
  • Coordinate and review inventory versus production capacity to meet demand of customer orders for the Manchester plant, optimising the order portfolio and material resource planning to deliver the best plan possible for our customers in the most economicalway possible.
  • Collaborate closely with other internal stakeholders, including but not limited to; the Supply Planner, Plant Production Operators, Area Supervisors, Transport Planners, Customer Service Representatives and the Supply Supervisor
  • Work with third party packaging, warehousing, quality and raw ingredients suppliers
  • Support Midterm planning processes and execution
  • Provides evaluation and recommendation on processes and how to continuously improve these
  • Deliver value added projects focused on cost reduction, process rationalisation and improving service to our end customers
  • To have input into tracking and analysing Key Performance Indicators
  • Daily execution of shipments between warehouses, ensuring movements are captured and all stock is accounted for in the ERP system.
ProfileThe successful candidate for the Production Planner role will ideally have the following key skills and qualities:
  • Experience in a similar supply chain / planning role
  • Background in a relevant industry (chemicals, food/ingredients)
  • SAP experience is desired but isnt essential
  • Strong communicator - Able to work collaboratively with other departments
  • PC Literacy with Microsoft Office and intermediate/ advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Understanding of production processes and the applications of products for customers
  • Able to work as part of a team across different stakeholders and communicate clearly
  • Excellent time management is essential in this position
Job Offer
  • £30,000 - £36,000
  • Hybrid working
