Job Description

The Company:

  • The company boast years of know-how in the area of innovative, durable, and recyclable plastic products. The company employs over 600 employees at several locations across Europe. At production site in the North West they produce, assemble and sell a rangeof IBCs, canisters, plastic pallets and industrial tanks. They are looking for a Production Manager to join their team paying up to £55,000pa depending on experience.
Job Title:
  • Production Manager
  • To develop a culture of manufacturing excellence and continually drive factory improvements in safety, quality, customer service, costs and reduced waste whilst ensuring productivity targets and budgeted machine performance efficiencies are achieved.
Role & Responsibilities of the Production Manager:
  • Ensure all safety and environment procedures are developed, maintained and policies are followed.
  • Leadership and management of the production activities including responsibility for ensuring company standards are maintained and improved in:
o Safety, health, environment, and hygieneo Qualityo Customer Service (on time, in full delivery)o Efficiency Improvement, process engineering and cost reductiono Team development
  • Maintain the sites BRCGS status.
  • Contribute to setting of department objectives, targets and KPIs. Produce production efficiency and machine downtime/breakdown analysis and provide reports to directors when required.
  • Develop and champion a continuous improvement culture utilising lean manufacturing principle and six sigma methodologies to maximise operational efficiency and profitability.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels, manage holidays, support in recruitment activities, training and development and other HR related matters such as appraisals, attendance, and disciplinary issues.
  • Work with HR to recruit new members of staff when required ensuring they complete a full induction and training plans are in place including preparing manuals and documents as needed.
  • Development of Training Skills Matrix and Training for all shop floor activities to aid the development of employees at all levels.
  • Manage the manufacturing process assigning production people, quality, etc. to optimise service, cost, and quality; optimise the materials flow from supplier to customers, establishing a disciplined and organised working environment where openness, ideas,suggestions, and collaboration for continuous improvement are encouraged.
  • Represent the company in meetings with customers, suppliers, government agencies and local authorities to assist in technical, health and safety, and environmental matters.
  • Propose and lead Sustainability projects
  • Select, develop, evaluate, and motivate employees. Lead by communicating job expectations, training, initiating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Liaise with Sales, Planning and Technical to ensure production efficiencies are maintained and provide support where required.
  • Ensure the Companys Quality Control Procedures are adhered to in all production departments, managing any non-conformances.
  • Propose investments to balance capacity, and/or to improve safety, environment, quality, efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Lead the team and coordinate productivity improvement activities,
  • Ensure that company standards are maintained.
  • Ability to be flexible in your day-to-day approach, to meet business requirements
  • Able to enjoy and work in fast-paced environment
  • Oversee health and safety and environmental policies across the factory.
  • Monitor quality and improvement.
  • Oversee planned and unplanned maintenance.
  • Develop and present 5 years plan
  • Prepare and attend monthly Management Meetings.
  • Develop a culture of manufacturing excellence and continually drive factory improvements in safety, quality, customer service, costs and reduced waste whilst ensuring productivity targets and budgeted machine performance efficiencies are achieved.
Key Skills & Experience:
  • Experience in a similar management level role with manufacturing experience.
  • A comprehensive understanding and experience of Health and Safety in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience of efficiency improvement and process engineering.
  • Strong people skills and management experience.
  • A "can do" attitude and the ability to resolve issues quickly and efficiently.
  • Experience of leading sustainability projects.
Salary:
  • Up to £55,000 pa depending on experience plus Holidays 25 days per year, pro-rata based on the working hours plus bank holidays.
