Principal Geotechnical EngineerLocation: Manchester or Leeds, UKSalary: Competitive salaryHours of Work: Full-timeOverview:Hardman Grey is currently seeking a Principal Geotechnical Engineer on behalf of our client to consult on projects in Manchester.The successful candidate will find themselves working within a Geo-environmental team to lead on technical delivery of the geotechnical aspects of geo-environmental and geotechnical projects. The candidate will contribute to the delivery of geotechnical analysisand design within a multi-disciplinary and national consultancy.Main responsibilities will include: Scoping & specifying intrusive ground investigations. Preparing project cost and time estimates. Undertaking analysis using softwares such as LimitState: GEO, XDISP and PDISP. Compile and review reports such as EC7 standard GIR and GDR and production of other technical documents. (An understanding of the requirements of CD622 would be advantageous). Work with other disciplines to deliver high profile schemes and innovative solutions. Mentor junior members of staff. Assisting in the winning of the business. Liaising with clients, stakeholders, regulations, sub-contractors and other members of the design team. Ensure all work is delivered in line with our clients procedures and policies to the highest safety, health and environmental standards.The ideal candidate will have: A Bachelors degree in Engineering Geology & Geotechnics of other relevant subjects. A Masters degree in Geotechnical Engineering is preferable. Has or working towards a Chartered status with Geological Society, ICE or similar. Experience within a similar consultancy role, preferable within the built-environment. Knowledge of engineering geology and geotechnics with reference to British Standards, EuroCode 7 etc. Experience and understanding of earthworks design and validation. Experience and understanding of the design of shallow and deep foundations, retaining structures, reinforced earth and ground improvement techniques. Clearly and concisely able to produce written reports, presenting technical information to a high standard. Strong communication skills and the ability to work within a team. Attention to detail and willingness to learn new tasks.
