Job Description

Principal Ecologist - ManchesterMy client, a market leading multi disciplinary Ecological Consultancy is seeking a talented Principal Ecologist level candidate to join, lead and help organise the team in Manchester.The successful candidate will be hungry for career growth and already connected to the local market.Friendly and hardworking the Principal Ecologist will encourage cohesiveness amongst the team and will work with a variety of small and large scale clients and projects. This excellent opportunity offers a balance of field and office work where you willcollaborate amongst a supportive team, based in Manchester and ideal for those seeking career progression and responsibility with an envious and varied list of clients.The Role:You will have project management and field experience, with the majority of the work being completed in the local area.The successful candidate will:

  • Have at least one Protected Species Licence (Bat and/or Watervole ar essential).
  • Have experience project managing.
  • Experience in team management.
  • Have experience writing high-quality reports including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals.
  • Complete protected species work (including Bat, Newt, Barn Owl, Badger etc).
  • Develop appropriate mitigation and ECIA reports.
  • CIEEM membership.
  • Effectively and safely implement environmental surveys.
  • Present ecological method statements.
  • Be comfortable dealing with clients and writing high quality reports.
Key Skills:The successful candidate will:
  • Hold a degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Have excellent experience in project managing.
  • Have experience with protected species (1-2 licences are ideal).
