Job Description

Principal Consultant - Renewable Energy Grid ConnectionsOffice Location: Glasgow, Newcastle Upon Tyne or Manchester (if desired) or anywhere in the UK or Internationally in a fully home-based role. You must have the full unrestricted right to work in the UK and UK Electricity market experience.Salary: CompetitiveThe roleOur client is a UK leading specialist consultancy in the renewable energy sector. They help their clients respond to the complex challenges of integrating low-carbon technology into our everyday lives. Their technical prowess combines power systems analysis, renewables design, integration solutions, and environmental services.Due to growth, they are looking to recruit an experienced Principal Consultant, with professional experience, specifically to work on a diverse range of projects within the renewable energy industry in the gird connections team. They are also happy to consider this role as a Senior Consultant depending on experience level.The consulting work they do in the energy sector has a strong reputation with an excellent client base, and they have plans to grow the team to be even bigger.The ideal candidate for this position will have a strong engineering background and demonstrable experience of providing consulting services and/or power system studies related to renewable energy, transmission and distribution networks, generation plants, energy storage or industrial projects.ResponsibilitiesDuties and responsibilities include:

  • Delivering specialist technical consulting services to clients in the electricity sector (e.g. power plants, large energy users, network owners).
  • Carrying out power systems studies and analysis for a wide range of energy projects covering onshore and offshore renewable energy.
  • Supporting business development but not expected to win their won work as this role is very much a technical delivery role.
    • Requirements:Must-haves;
  • PowerFactory and PSSE dynamic simulation experience.
  • Good understanding of G99 and Grid Code dynamic compliance studies
  • Project experience with multiple OEM WTG, PV and BESS models and interfacing with power plant controllers.
  • Practical hands-on project experience with running dynamic studies for compliance
  • PowerFactory dynamic model development for inverter and conventional generation.
  • Project experience in basic conventional generation model development, AVR and governors.
    • Nice to haves:
  • Power quality compliance studies, P28, G5/4, etc..
  • PSCAD and hands-on project experience for EMT and insulation coordination studies (not managing nor reviewing)
  • Small signal stability studies
  • PSSE dynamic model development.
