Job Description

A fantastic new opportunity working as a full-time or part time Payroll Officer based in Tameside. This temporary to permanent role has an excellent hourly rate on offer between £14.00 - £16.00 and is based onsite.Client DetailsMy client provides a first class learning environment and resources in a great College based in Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester. Their aim is to support individuals aspirations within education and learning to improve employability and generate economicprosperity.DescriptionThe key responsibilities of the Payroll Officerwill include, but may not be limited to;

  • Liaise with external parties on Tax, Pension and Banking purposes
  • Reconcile monthly payroll runs and pension reports for both local Government Pension and Teacher Pension
  • Managing and reconciling the full payroll functions
  • Performing payroll tasks such as reconciliations, HMRC returns, third party creditor returns and payments
  • To be solely responsible for all pension administration and preparing submissions for Greater Manchester Pensions Fund
  • Responding to Ad Hoc queries
  • Carrying out monthly balance sheet reconciliation
  • Maintaining, developing and streamlining all fully documented Payroll and Pension processes
  • To manage the main finance office and associated finance staff, ensuring that key everyday finance functions operate efficiently and effectively
  • Assist in the year end audit process.
  • Ensure all payroll payments are made in a timely manner
  • Process journals as appropriate to reflect actual activity.
ProfileThe successful Payroll Officer must possess the following skill set and experience.
  • Background working within Payroll and Pensions in an Education or Local Government setting
  • Excellent oral and written reporting skills
  • To be highly motivated and committed
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure in a busy working environment
  • Excellent proven knowledge of IT systems such as Excel
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Ability to prioritise workload and to be organised and efficient in work
  • Public Sector and Government background
