Job Description

Payroll Manager - 9 month FTCBased: Home based (must be UK based)Salary: highly dependent on experience, good benefits, full remote working, flexible/agile working hours and IT equipment provided to work from home.9 month FTC with possible extensionWe are currently working with a leading service provider based in the North West of England. Having worked with this business for years, we know them extremely well and have placed a large number of people in their growing finance function. The group iswell-known in the industry and offer a great place to work for their staff - good benefits, flexible working hours and fully remote working (although you MUST be based in the UK to be considered)We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced Payroll lead to work a 9 month FTC with the business. This role will be covering maternity leave, managing a small team of 2, processing and leading on payroll activities for 2 businesses and heavily involvedin an outsourcing process project for part of the businessRole:

  • Overseeing in-house group payrolls for circa 1500 employees using iTrent
  • Managing two large complex payrolls calculating absences, expenses, overtime and administering new starters, leavers and role amendments
  • Taking an active role in the project team dealing with the outsourcing project, representing payroll to ensure group decisions are made taking into account regulatory requirements
  • Advising employees and stakeholders on any payroll and pension queries
  • Updating and maintaining payroll systems and procedures, assisting with any new system testing
  • Calculating and processing pension contributions, overseeing pension funds administration and capital costs fund
  • Building effective relationships with HR, finance and wider business
  • Ensuring payroll data is stored correctly to meet GDPR and data protection requirements
  • Reviewing current payroll processes to identify areas where efficiencies can be made
  • Ensuring accurate deduction of voluntary deductions and attachment of earnings
  • Calculating salaries, overtime, PAYE, NI, SMP, SAP, SPP, SSP, OMP, OPS and holiday pay alongside shift changes, call outs and more
  • Reconciling and monthly reporting and analysis ensuring payroll meets finance needs, identifying anomalies by reviewing pay and actioning prior to sign off
  • Signing of BACS payments for payment twice monthly
  • Liaising with DWP, HMRC and pension regulator to provide information on starters, leavers, P45s, P60s etc.
  • Ensuring all year end and audit requirements for payroll are met
Experience:
  • Lead Payroll experience is essential
  • Ability to work autonomously, taking a lead on all payroll activities for the group
  • Experience of an outsourcing process would be desirable but not essential
  • iTrent experience would be highly desirable but not essential
  • Payroll qualifications would be an advantage
