Job Description

We are over 300 colleagues strong across five offices in Bristol, Cambridge, London, Manchester, and Munich.We are recruiting for Patent Administrators to join our IP Support Services function which sits at the heart of our firm, providing vital support to clients and attorneys throughout the end-to-end process of Patent, Designs and Trade Mark administration.We are involved from the beginning of the application process, continuing through to grant and post-grant activities including renewals and oppositions. Its our responsibility to free our Attorneys of all administrative work, so they can focus their expertisewhere clients need it most.We are recruiting several roles for our Manchester office in the city centre, if successful you will join our dedicated training programme at the end of January. This is a great opportunity to join one of Europes top specialist Intellectual Property firms.The roleOn joining the IP Support Services team, you will work closely with paralegals, attorneys and other members of the IP Support function undertaking a range of activities, relating to all aspects of patent and design cases including

  • Reviewing incoming emails, noting instructions and relevant deadlines, and saving to electronic files.
  • Review official correspondence from patent offices and prepare reports to clients
  • Prepare and file patent and design applications
  • Prepare documents and correspondence for filing at the relevant Intellectual Property Office in accordance with our firms standards
  • Prepare client correspondence and invoices in accordance with our firms standards
The role is varied and can be busy at times. You will be working as part of a wider team of Patent Administrators but will have individual responsibility for your own tasks and deadlines.Whats in it for youWe have an excellent benefit package which includes:

We care about wider society too and the communities in which we operate.About youYou dont need to know about Patents and Trade Marks but its obviously an advantage. You dont even have to have worked in a law firm, although of course this is useful. What you do need is office experience, preferably in a busy, time sensitive environment.You will be able to plan and prioritise large volumes of data and demonstrate excellent attention to details. You will also be a strong team player and able to support others to achieve departmental and firm wide goals.In addition to the above you will also be able to demonstrate the following;
  • IPPC qualification would be advantageous but not essential as successful candidates will be supported in achieving this qualification
  • MS Office at an advanced level including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams
  • Ability to learn and use new systems for example document management and electronic filling
  • Excellent written communication skills with high attention to detail and strong spelling and grammar
  • Highly proactive and organised and able to manage competing priorities
  • Ability to operate in a fast paced and ever-changing environment
  • Ability to take responsibility and ownership for tasks and sees them through to completion despite obstacles
  • Demonstrates a professional approach
