Job Description

Douglas Scott are working exclusively with a central Manchester firm on an exciting opportunity to recruit a Housing Disrepair Solicitor (NQ - 3 Years). My client is a boutique firm based in based on the edge of Spinningfields. If you are looking for anew challenge, to join a successful and growing organisation based in central Manchester this may be the role for you!.My client is aboutqiue litigation practice and they are in the market for a Solicitor who is looking for a new challenge and has experience within Housing Disrepair files. Reporting to the Head of HDR, the successful candidate will work closely with them withfuture recruitment already planned to support them further.The ideal candidate must have managed their own caseload with minimal supervision and should have a minimum of 1 year litigation experience in dealing with Housing Disrepair claims. Ideally the candidate will have experience in supervising/managing a team offee earners.Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Head of Department to supervise a team of fee earners, ensuring workloads are consistently completed in good time
  • Initially handle a non-litigated caseload (litigated thereafter) of Housing Disrepair claims in a high-quality and commercially effective manner
  • Provide guidance to junior members of the team to enable them to operate efficiently, effectively and feel supported
  • Preparation and submission of claims to local Council or Housing Associations, and ultimately the issuing of proceedings
  • Draft legal documentation and conduct legal research
  • Draft/edit correspondence
  • Work alongside individuals when needed to build confidence and deploy soft skill training to assist them carrying out their role to the best of their ability
  • Assist the Head of Department in the building and development of the people and culture of the team
  • Maintain high standards of information recording and client care
Core Competencies Required:
  • Good practical knowledge of Housing Disrepair claims and litigation generally
  • At least one year of litigation experience with proven track record of handling caseloads
  • Excellent understanding of Proclaim or other case management system
  • Be able to establish priorities and manage deadlines
  • Excellent Microsoft Word and Excel skills
  • Highly motivated and pro-active team player
  • Must be able to work in a flexible environment
Basic upto £40k with OTE £50k
