Job Description

Network Consultant - Manchester (role can be primarily home based if preferred, with travel required to client sites) One of the most successful and rapidly expanding mid-tier IT Service Providers in the UK are seeking an experienced WAN Network Consultant.The work will involve the design and implementation of SDWAN networks for many household name brands (often with rather complex network topologies).The business are very much cutting edge and youll be working on some of the most up-to-date modern networking technologies.A significant emphasis is placed upon training and the business have among the highest staff satisfaction of any IT service provider we work with. It is expected that this role will allow you to further your knowledge and further up-skill extremely quickly due to the very wide range of complex network environments you will encounter.In addition, you will be working with some of the most competent network engineers in the country. What youll do:

  • Work collaboratively within the Projects Team to design and implement complex enterprise network solutions, both remotely and also at customer sites.
  • Create and review high and low-level network designs, making recommendations for optimisation.
  • Be customer facing with the ability to explain complex solutions to a non-technical audience.
  • Review SoW together with customers prior to commencing work.
  • Take technical ownership on projects to ensure network solutions meet the customers requirements.
  • Work to strict timeframes to ensure projects are delivered on time and to a high standard
  • Create and implement change requests using change management as part of project builds.
  • Identify problem trends and implement change as required.
  • Provide technical advice, recommendations and be the technical escalation point for both internal and external support functions, transferring knowledge to junior colleagues and external support functions
  • Work with other functions within the business to help identify issues and requirements with a view to continued service improvement
  • Production of high-quality documentation.
    • Experience youll need:
  • Strong understanding of enterprise networking technologies including a technical background in WAN & DC Networking ( MPLS and SD-WAN ).
  • CCNA / CCNP certification or equivalent knowledge.
  • Experience working IOS and NX-OS. Ideally experience with FortiOS.
  • Ideally an understanding of networking in Azure and / or AWS environments (this is absolutely not a must-have). Training will be provided.
  • Experience using automated monitoring, log tools and analysing trends and root cause issues.
  • The ability to work in a team environment and be client focused.
