Main duties and responsibilities are as follows:Fills moulds with mixed material or applies material to mould to specified thickness.Moulds parts or products using vibrator, handpress, or casting equipment and taps or tilts mould to ensure uniformity.Adds specific amount of water and stirs mixture to required consistency to make castings.Measures ingredients and mixes moulding or casting material or sealing compound, to prescribed consistency according to formula.Removes excess material and levels and smooths wet mould mixture.Loads or stacks filled moulds in oven, drier, or curing box, or on storage racks or carts.Reads work order or examines part to determine part or section of product to be produced.Pours plaster into mould, shakes mould to distribute layer of plaster on inside of mould and pours off excess mixture.Repeats process after each layer hardens until specified thickness of casting is attained. Disassembles mould, fills holes and defects in casting with plaster and smooths surface of casting, using scraping tool.Selects size and type of mould according to instructions.Installs and secures mould or mould parts together. Brushes or sprays surface of mould with parting agent or inserts paper to ensure smoothness and prevent sticking or seepage.Measures and cuts product to specified dimensions, using measuring and cutting instruments.Aligns and assembles parts to produce completed product, using gauges and hand tools.Inspects and tests parts or products for defects and to verify accuracy and adherence to standards. Cleans, trims, smoothes, products or parts.
