Job Description

Job Purpose:The File Handler will handle their own case load of around 150/160 MOJ stage 3. The role will be to pursue settlement of files as soon as possible ensuring the best possible outcome for the client and ensuring guidelines are adhered to.Key Accountabilities:You will be responsible for a wide range of delegated tasks in order to achieve a settlement and billing target per month. Whilst working within a supervised environment, as the FH you will be responsible for organising and prioritising your own work loadon a daily basis, ensuring a satisfactory level of quality and performance is achieved to ensure effective client service.The responsibilities of the FH will vary depending upon your stage of development, however, it is anticipated that you will work to develop skills and gain an in-depth understanding in Technical, Procedural and Drafting skills and of course ensuring compliancewith the SRA Code of Conduct.Working Hours:This is a full time role working 35 hours per week, Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm with 1 unpaid hour for lunch.Primary location for this role is Manchester City Centre Office.Essential Skills and Attributes:

  • Established interest in law either through further education or experience within a process driven legal environment.
  • Experience handling claims.
  • Knowledge of the MOJ portal.
  • Ability to plan and prioritise workloads.
  • Efficient in a process driven environment.
  • Calm under pressure with the ability to re-prioritise and delegate effectively when required.
  • Good understanding of IT packages.
  • Excellent listening and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to follow instruction with attention to detail.
  • Ability to recognise when sensitivity and tact are required.
