Job Description

Lead Software Engineer PHP required to work with one of the world fastest growing organisations, fully remote and flexible working offered with the chance to work on 80% development and 20% architecture mainly within PHP and its ecosystems of Symfony, Doctrine and Sonata.This is a key hire for a young, vibrant, fast moving customer centric team who value and reward high performing individuals and need somebody to come in and lead from the front in terms of development and architecture and oversee the next steps of this transformation.As Full Stack Lead Engineer you will be responsible for…

  • Working with our product team on product and platform roadmaps;
  • Collaborating and designing technical solutions with the product team that satisfy functional and non-functional needs;
  • Ensuring the platform is performant, secure, scalable, robust and reliable;
  • Planning and evolving the technical architecture of the platform with the teams based in the UK, South Africa and Ukraine;
  • Providing technical leadership and mentoring to the teams ensuring best practices and quality.
    • Essential SkillsYou will have the following skills:
  • 5+ years working as an engineer leading teams/projects, coaching people where necessary.
  • Excellent understanding and experience of programming languages and paradigms (object oriented, functional. Deep understanding of the PHP programming language, PSR best-practices and wider ecosystem (Symfony, Doctrine, Sonata, PHPUnit);
  • Integration experience via RESTful APIs (Shopify, Mailgun, Taxjar, etc…) for workflow and data;
  • Experience working with relational databases (we use Postgres/RDS);
  • Experience with large cloud-based applications (we use AWS) and various services (S3, EC2, RDS);
  • Experience with unit and integration testing, mocking and build quality into applications;
  • Experience building front-end applications (we use Vue.js primarily, but also some React),
  • Experience with CI/CD and build tools (we use Gitlab and composer) source control (we use Bitbucket);
