Job description Are you a talented Lead Software Engineer looking for a new challenge and an opportunity to further advance your skills and career in a great working environmentIf you are passionate about technology, constantly seeking to learn and improve your skill set, then you are the type of person we are looking for!We’re looking for an experienced, ambitious Lead Software Engineer who will take a key role leading our software team. Somebody who has proficient knowledge of all stages of software development, and experience leading a scaling team.We are offering superb career growth opportunities, great compensation and benefits working alongside other engineers and developers, collaborating on the various layers of the infrastructure for the Accommodation.co.uk platform. Roles & responsibilities:
  • Leading a small development team currently composed of one software engineer and a DevOps engineer.
  • Hiring & managing the software team as it grows through time.
  • Dealing with the project management of developing new features requested from stakeholders within the business and ensuring that these are delivered with adherence to the schedule you’ve set.
  • Taking ownership of the software development team and attending weekly meetings with stakeholders to discuss progression and updates.
  • Maintaining the current codebase to ensure that bugs are kept to a minimum and are dealt with promptly, with proper consideration for priorities.
  • Researching & suggesting improvements to the software and managing their implementation.
  • Having an overall understanding of the entire software solution and infrastructure, from AWS to the frontend code.
  • Setting coding standards for the rest of the development team, and ensuring that they’re stuck too by performing peer review.
  • Leading in an agile environment, hosting daily scrum meetings, sprint retros and demos.
    • Skills & Qualities:
  • Strong leadership qualities, dealing with developers & stakeholders and sticking to standards and practices you set.
  • Using Jira & other Atlassian tools to manage software projects.
  • Ability to deal with the pressure of a fast paced environment and being able to make decisions & change direction quickly due.

  • Lead a team of developers and worked with stakeholders to manage expectations for the delivery of new features.
