Our strength comes from our outstanding people; our strong relationships in the educationworld; our expertise in using technology to help people learn; our global footprint and local reach; and our position as a profitable, global company with a unifying sense of purpose.About the jobBased within the Learning Innovation team within Pearson Online Learning Services (International) and reporting to the Head of Learning Innovation, the Lead Learning Designer works within a multidisciplinary team of UX/UI designers, technical specialistsand digital content specialists to support the design and development of digital learning products; including executive education, CPD short courses and full Masters programmes. The role supports the whole design lifecycle from pre-contract scoping throughto scaled delivery of online/blended programmes. The role owns the overall creative vision for a range of projects; requires creativity, an understanding of how adults learn in the online environment, the ability to facilitate design interventions and analyseoutputs to form learning design recommendations.Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead scoping, planning and implementation of learning design activities across a range of services including the development and co-ordination of our approach to learning design for digitally rich academic programmes, short courses and other educationalservices.
  • Employ appropriate consultation and facilitation techniques to analyse client vision, needs, learning goals and objectives to determine appropriate learning design approaches for both online and blended learning programmes
  • Using creativity, establish learning design models appropriate for the delivery of identified online/blended programmes; including detailed design documentation based on agreed learning design methodology and course objectives
  • Identify approaches to enable the evaluation of the effectiveness & quality of instruction through the use of qualitative, quantitative, formative, and summative methods.
  • Provide expert input and recommendations into the development of curricula appropriate for fully online and blended delivery; support formal approval and validation of programmes.
  • Support the smooth transfer of identified learning design plans to the content development and production team.
  • Provide internal subject matter expertise in Learning & Curriculum Design to promote knowledge and skill development within the team and with clients
  • Line management of Learning Designers within the Learning Innovation team
About you
  • Minimum of 5 - 10 years experience designing and developing online/blended learning programmes within higher and/or professional education.
  • Possess a strong product mindset that enables you to clearly articulate the vision for our learning products and the ability to support key stakeholders in working towards to achievement of that product vision.
  • You will have experience of applying Design Thinking and Agile Development methodologies to curriculum design for online and digitally rich environments.
  • You will have experience of working within the higher education environment and/or corporate and executive education/professional development and an appreciation of the culture and norms of these learning environments
  • Experience of championing and supporting innovation in curriculum change and/or learning development renewal projects
  • Experience managing diverse stakeholders (internal and external) to mutually beneficial result
  • Take a very flexible approach to work, thrive in a dynamic working environment and manage multiple projects and priorities
  • You will be an excellent communicator, able work collaboratively with clients and colleagues, but also able to work independently.
Education, qualification and training:
  • A Masters degree in Instructional Design, Learning, Technology and Instruction, or related field. Equivalent years of education and successful work experience in Learning Design / Technology Enhanced Learning or another closely related field, with appropriatecertification, will be considered.
