awaze, europes largest holiday vacation rentals group.A family of iconic travel brands including Cottages.com, Hoseasons, Novasol and James Villa Holidays, since 2021, weve been on amazing technology & digital journey, the largest technology replatforming program in the travel industry.Our international product engineering teams are currently ripping up our entire estate and building brand-new products as we continue on our vision to deliver a single platform which will: delight our guests & owners; unify our brands; and create a culturethat cultivates collaboration, innovation and celebration.Our 2023 plans are huge, (50m investment, 50+ new hires) and upon joining us, youll be empowered to create an awazing career youre proud of, whilst having a big part to play in our journey.Do you want to join in the fun of transforming the travel industryPosition: Junior Software EngineerWhat team will you be joiningOur Search & 3rd Party platform sits at the heart of everything we do, underpinning our flagship brands, serving multiple 3rd party distribution partners and providing faceted navigation and up-to-date price and availability data for an international portfolioof 115,000 properties (across cottages, lodges, parks).What will your role be

  • Work as part of a full stack product team, youll be responsible for building innovative products to ensure we continue to deliver optimal experiences for our guests and owners.
  • Help shape the overall architecture and tech strategy for our SEARCH platform using the right technology for the task, rather than allowing the technology to dictate the solution.
  • Contribute to driving best engineering practices such as CI/CD, TDD, cloud architectures and pair/mob programming
  • Be an active member of the engineering and wider tech community within Awaze
What will you offerWhilst we dont expect that youll be the finished article (well help you with continuous training and mentoring), were looking for enthusiasm and expect that you have a real passion and interest in software engineering with knowledge/experience in a mixtureof the following:
  • Development expertise in one or more OO programming languages (Java preferred)
  • Experience in AWS services (e.g. Terraform, ECS, Lambda, API Gateway, SQS)
  • Experience/knowledge in Search (e.g. ElasticSearch) technologies
  • Development experience in Kotlin or Clojure is advantageous
  • Experience working with CICD build pipelines using Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or similar
  • Experience with containerisation and tools such as Docker
  • Experience with modern quality practices, such as pairing, TDD, BDD
