Job Description

IT 2nd Line Infrastructure and Network EngineerContract: Permanent, Full-time (38.75 hours/week)Location: UK Hybrid worker (up to 2 days per week in the Manchester office)Salary: £33,000 - £38,000 per annum, dependent on experienceAbout Key Travel:Key Travel is the UKs largest Travel Management Company, providing travel solutions for Faith, NGOs and Academic sectors since 1980. To keep this established support, we are looking for people with good travel knowledge and experience, whoare highly competent in dealing with complex travel requirements.The role:Reporting to the IT Infrastructure and Security Manager, this role encompasses providing support across all Key Travel offices and systems, spanning PCs, servers, networking, firewalls, switches, routers, storage, telephony, Azure cloud. The IT 2ndLine Infrastructure and Network Engineer will also need to monitor and maintain uptime of services; and document, build and maintain knowledgebases.To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate a balance between a being supportive by responding to customer requests within SLA and being proactive by ensuring Key Travel can maintain competitive advantage in the market through operationalefficiency. You will further need to be a strong communicator with the ability to support current technologies and displaying a high degree of aptitude and leadership acumen.The post-holder will also be required to undertake IT projects and work on BaU tasks assigned around applying patches, performing upgrades, configuration changes, security and compliance, infrastructure improvements and maintenance.This role is accountable for providing network support for firewalls, switches, routers, server, desktop, telephony, and Azure cloud to the business on a day-to-day basis as well as recommending the overall strategy for these systems; in addition to out-of-hoursmonthly ICT estate maintenance and On-Call for emergencies.Key experience and attributes:Essential

  • Extensive experience in Networking - WAN, switches (Cisco, Netgear), Firewalls (Juniper, Fortinet)
  • Extensive experience with Windows & Windows Server support
  • Extensive experience working in a ServiceDesk environment
  • Demonstrable experience with ticket management & working to SLA
  • Required to document processes, troubleshooting tips and procedures
  • Interacting with internal users to resolve issues; communicating with internal users maintaining high professional standard and confidentiality
  • Demonstrable experience in 1st, 2nd, 3rd line support for front and backend systems including PCs, servers, switches, firewalls, telephony, Azure cloud
  • Ability to administer V-LANs, routing protocols ospf, bgp
  • Building/Installation of computers for new users and ensures delivery of equipment to users in different locations if necessary
  • User and email account creation for new users
  • Wireshark (or other) for network traffic analysis
  • Ability to deliver to tight schedules
  • Able to communicate effectively, build credibility and influence others
  • Able to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Ambitious and determined to excel and make a positive impact
  • Resilient and able to remain calm and decisive in the face of change and challenges
  • Positive and friendly manner with a can do attitude
