Job Description

Slater and Gordon are looking for an intuitive communicator to join our Internal Communications team and support the delivery of messages that inspire and engage our people about technology and performance.Based in Manchester, reporting to the Head of Internal Communications, and supervised by the Internal Communications Manager, you will support the delivery of Slater and Gordon’s internal communications and employee engagement programme.This role is important to help our busy team keep colleagues on-top of our strategy, sharing stories that celebrate our culture, and communicating important news that has an impact on our people.As a people and technology focused business, we need someone who is comfortable working across different projects and happy to roll up your sleeves to get things done.This is a great opportunity to someone who wants to work in a busy, high performing team, and build a set of skills for a great career in internal communications.   • Seek compelling news stories from across the business and produce accurate and engaging content (written and visual) for our platforms including intranet, email, video.
  • Assist with the smooth running of executive and leadership events on a monthly basis, working with Executive Assistants to ensure all logistics are covered and with communications to ensure the best outcome for the event.
  • Run local engagement events with smaller teams aligned with our Group events programme, helping to drive engagement and amplify the employee voice.
  • Work with the Internal Communications Channel Manager to update and build intranet content ensuring this key channel is fresh and engaging.
  • Help to drive adoption and promote best practice on our internal social media channels (currently Yammer).
  • Manage the editorial plan for the weekly e-newsletter and assist with the effective delivery of this key channel to different audiences.
  • Support business areas to develop and deliver communications plan for engagement including diversity and inclusion, marketing colleagues, key change initiatives.
  • Help manage the overall internal communications plan - ensuring the team delivers the best service to our internal customers.
  • Monitor and co-ordinate business as usual requests and updates to the Group-wide intranet and Internal Communications mailbox.
  • Work closely with team to ensure great collaboration, seamless processes, and make suggestions for improvement.
  • About You
  • Demonstrate sound communication skills, written and verbal, and be a natural storyteller.
  • You will enjoy working on communication channels (intranet, internal social media, virtual conferencing).
  • Be calm and logical under pressure, and comfortable communicating with all levels and able to instill confidence.
  • Ability to build relationships quickly and influence stakeholders to achieve your objectives.
  • Self-motivated, able to work autonomously: a do-er, reliable, curious and have a good eye for detail.
  • Experience and interest in both digital communications and events is desirable.
  • Degree level education in relevant subject area: 2:1 or above is desirable.
  • You enjoy running colleague events that inspire people.
  • You will not be afraid to do things differently and come up with ideas to improve our processes.
  • Creative, confident and quick thinking.
