Job Description

Role ProfileJob Title: Infrastructure EngineerReports to: Infrastructure ManagerJob PurposeTo help maintain IT infrastructure, both on premise and cloud based. Including support, design, management, implementation, and monitoring. To provide an escalation point within the support function. Assist in the design of new systems to support businessprojectsJob Context: The role sites within the wider IT department in the Technical IT function, outside of the IT Service Desk and day to day support roles. This role is responsible for the day-to-day management of all cloud systems and to assistin the management of all the companys endpoint assets. The role is not only re-active to incidents but is also very proactive in its development of all aspects of services, especially infrastructure and Microsoft cloud solutions. The role holder reports intothe Infrastructure Manager, who then reports into the Director of ITKey Accountabilities: Maintain, Improve and Implement Microsoft 365 Services including but not limited to:

  • Azure AD
  • Azure IaaS/PaaS
  • Intune
  • Exchange Online
  • OneDrive
  • Teams / Telephony To help maintain core systems, including but not limited to:
  • Datacentre Hardware
  • Virtualisation technologies
  • Networking
  • Microsoft Windows and Linux Servers To resolve incidents escalated by the Service Desk and IT Technician within SLA Training and mentoring the IT support team
Assist in the design of new services to deliver to the business.Regular reporting for all systems, including Desktop and Server estates Assist with IT business continuity testing on a half yearly basisTo assist with the implementation of security controls when new and existing systems are reviewedTo ensure documentation is complete and updated when systems are implemented or updatedRelationships:External: Major software partners e.g. HP, VMware, Microsoft Service suppliers (data network, telecoms etc.) Solution providers Technical ConsultantsInternal: Service Desk Technicians and Manager Senior IT team Business Analysts and project teams All Chase de Vere end users Swiss/CDV Supplier specialistsKnowledge, Skills and Experience: IT support best practise knowledge Technical skills to support current environment, Problem solving techniques and capabilities, Communication, interpersonal & organisational skills are essential Technical understandingof all CDV supported services Keeping up to date with technology undertaking training as necessary. Organised and self-motivatedKnowledge/Experience of the following: VMware, Windows Server - all o/s Veeam, Backup software, Cisco/Meraki networking, Extensive Office365 and M365 knowledge and experience, Microsoft Exchange server, SQL Server knowledge, At least 5 years experiencein an IT technical support team.Challenges: Dealing with very complex issues Limited internal escalation point, Working to tight timescales, Support a broad range of departments & services, Reduced technical skills of more junior members of the team.
