Housing First Worker - Fixed Term (18 months)Salary: £23,994Job Type: Full Time, Fixed Term 18 MonthsLocation: ManchesterBenefits: Competitive pension, 26 days holiday plus bank holidays, increasing with service, cycle to work scheme, season ticket loans for public transport plus much more.Great Places is delighted to have been appointed as the lead accountable body for a newly established consortium to deliver Greater Manchester Housing First (GMHF) which is a innovative partnership consisting of registered providers; health and third sectorpartners working together to deliver a ground breaking service. Great Places will lead a consortium assisting up to 400 people into their own homes with support over the next three years, backed by £7.6 million of Government funding.Great Places will work with the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) and a host of other partner organisations to deliver quality, secure safe places to live across the city-region for individuals with multiple and complex needs who are either homelessor in precarious circumstances regarding their accommodation.As both the consortium lead and a delivery partner this creates a number of newly created and exciting and rewarding career opportunities.What is Housing FirstHousing First is based around the ethos that housing is a human right and differs from traditional supported housing and homelessness provision that use places a number of conditions on people to prove that they are ready for independent housingThe model was first developed in New York in 1992. It has since been widely adopted in the USA and become central to the national homelessness strategies in Canada, Denmark, Finland and France, demonstrating widespread success.The approach is currently growing in popularity in the UK; in 2016 Housing First England developed and published the principles for Housing First to inform the commissioning, design and delivery of services in this country. For more details about Housing First,its principles and aims please see the recruitment pack attached.About the role:Reporting to the Housing First Team Leader, the Housing First Worker is responsible for coordinating and providing a personalised, trauma informed support service to people with complex needs facing multiple exclusion in line with Housing First Principles.The Housing First Worker will be responsible for coordinating and providing a person centred, strength based support service in line with Housing First principles to create long term sustainable tenancies by increasing independence and maximising connectivitywith the local community.*This role is based across Wigan, Bolton and Greater ManchesterAbout You:-The successful candidate will have an understanding of the complex interdependencies of mental health and substance abuse and offending behaviour and promote the rights, responsibilities and informed choice of the people receiving the service, acting as anadvocate to promote independence. You will also have a creative approach to problem solving; getting and keeping people engaged demonstrating empathy.You will have a high level of relationship skills: Empathy; caring; acceptance; mutual affirmation; an encouragement of responsible risk taking; supportive and constructive challenge and positive expectation for the future and experience of data collection,administration and recording procedures with the ability to maintain accurate case notes and organise own case load to support the national evaluation.You should be able to work flexibly and able to work across Greater Manchester to meet service delivery demands when required.About our company:Great Places Housing Group is not your average housing association.
