Job Description

The Role

  • Home Maker
  • Full Time, Permanent – 40 hours
  • Based Longsight, South Manchester
  • 38-Bed Nursing Home
  • Equilibrium Healthcare are looking for a motivated Home Maker to join the team here at our Oakland House Nursing Home. You will be joining a highly motivated and passionate team to provide the highest level of care to meet the needs of our residents.Oakland House Care Home in Longsight, Manchester offers a service for adults with enduring mental illness. The home has 3 distinct units, each with an experienced team of clinical and support staff. Alongside clinical care through a person-centred approach, we also provide a full activity programme for our service users, making use of in-house and community amenities to ensure that their days are fulfilling.The successful candidate will be responsible for providing stimulation and encouragement to service users through entertainment, activities and community links and building positive relationships with the service users and their relatives/carers.Some of your duties will include:
  • Formulating an individual activity profile for each service user through liaison with care staff
  • Ensuring the safe and proper use of all equipment
  • Maintaining accurate and legible records in respect of service users’ activities
  • Planning and facilitating stimulating activities, promoting independence and choice to meet service user needs
  • Controlling and maintaining the stock of activities equipment, materials and resources within a given budget
  • The ideal applicant will be forward-thinking and enthusiastic, with experience of and a genuine interest in working with this client group. You will preferably have:
  • Previous experience of organising activities within a care setting
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety in the workplace
  • The capacity to communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work as part of a team and individually
  • Basic PC skills
