Job Description

Job Title:Health & Safety AdvisorJob reference: 7040530We are currently recruiting for a Health & Safety Advisor to join an establishing Civil Engineering firm in Greater Manchester.This is a permanent position with the opportunity to progress and grow with the company.The primary role of the H&S Advisor is to generate a positive health and safety culture, advise staff on all safety, health and welfare matters to ensure the company complies with its statutory obligations.Main Responsibilities will include:

  • Advise on all aspects of Health & Safety, including updates in legislative and client requirements
  • Ownership of the Health and Safety Management system
  • Find ways to deliver the health, safety and welfare performance within the company and create initiatives to address any shortfalls
  • Maintain the employee and sub-contractor Competence System with reference to Legislation, Approved Codes of Practice, or H.S.E. guidance. Organise training and keep records to maintain compliance
  • Review all Risk and COSHH assessments as required by legislation including recommendations for better control measures
  • Conduct site inspections jointly with operations staff, report on findings and manage issue log through to completion
  • Co-ordinate and manage first aid and fire safety representatives
  • Investigate all accidents and near-miss incidents and collate reports for shared learning across the business
  • Collate all incidents, accidents and near miss statistics and where applicable liaise with statutory authorities under R.I.D.D.O.R
  • Elect and set up H&S representative meetings as per statutory requirements
  • Implement practical and effective methods, both proactive and reactive, of promoting safe and healthy working practices across the business
  • Assist Operations teams with any H&S matters they need support with
