Job Description

To further support their growth and expansion our client, a charity that supports people with Learning Disabilities, requires an experienced and thorough Health and Safety Manager to support and advise on all Health and Safety aspects for the business.The RoleThe purpose of the role is to co-ordinate, support and advise the business on all health and safety aspects, establishing, managing and monitoring standards, processes communications, training and systems to ensure all health and safety policies are being adhered to. This role would be covering all of the services/homes across the North and West of the UK, so would require a lot of travel.Specific tasks include:

  • Ensuring a safe workplace environment without risk to health in all residential buildings
  • Communicating all health and safety procedures and policies to staff and management
  • Co-ordinating, carrying out and recording health and safety inspections, audits and checks
  • Co-ordinating the on-going development of health and safety policies, systems of work and procedures
  • Ensure accurate records are kept
  • Establish a structured programme of health and safety training in conjunction with the learning and development team
  • Co-ordinate and manage Health and Safety meetings
  • The PersonThis role would suit someone with a wealth of Health and Safety management experience, who likes working autonomously, but can also influence managers within a team. In addition you should have
  • COSHH and NEBOSH (both general and environmental certificate)
  • Evidence of working in a complex environment
  • Effective working with regulatory bodies and stakeholders
  • Good organisation skills
  • Very good attention to detail
  • A full driving license + own car
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • The role is covering an area encompassing Northern Ireland, Yorkshire, Exeter and Newcastle, so living location is not essential, as long as you are on patch.
