Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Head of PMO to join our team!Job PurposeReporting to the Transformation and Strategy Director, the Head of PMO will monitor, report, coordinate and drive our Transformation Programme:

  1. Working closely with business and product owners to ensure the design and timely implementation of change initiatives across the organisation to secure the benefits set out in our three-year strategic plan
  2. Managing and communicating effectively the overall programme progress to executive sponsors and all other stakeholders, ensuring effective portfolio delivery roadmaps, monitoring progress against key milestones and measurement of realisation of benefits
  3. Reviewing, challenging, and gaining agreement to new and revised business cases and delivery plans, throughout the project life cycle
  4. Adding value to delivery teams by driving momentum, anticipating future challenges, and supporting issue identification and resolution
Key responsibilities of the PMO Manager:Portfolio Management
  • Initiate and lead the governance and delivery of programmes within the transformation portfolio, using the appropriate programme and project management methodologies/tools to give assurance that intended outcomes are identified and achieved
  • Develop roadmaps to report progress, in line programme management principles
  • Organise and chair Transformation Board highlighting areas where executive decisions need to be made
  • Maintain the cadence, framework, and tools for effective initiative review processes in coordination with business owners and executive sponsors
  • Develop clear executive and board level reporting and communication of the status and progress of the programme
  • Provide external challenge, advice, training (ad hoc and formal), mentoring, and sharing of best practice across the projects to ensure key roles across the team are supported
Implement a lessons learnt process and application across key projects and programmes.Project benefit realisation - Lead the development and implementation of a long-term strategy to ensure that intended business benefits are realised and tracked across Travel Counsellors. Ensure effective ongoing tracking and reporting of initiativefinancial and non-financial benefits against agreed targets.Capacity and capability management - Ongoing review and management of the workstack for multiple related business critical programmes and reprioritise the work and the deployment of project resources to reduce costs and increase the valueof the work delivered to the business.Project governance - Ensure that roles and responsibilities are clearly defined within the project delivery and programme management office teams and ensure programme and project compliance with the Travel Counsellors governance structuresand processes.Organisational capability building - Working with business and product owners, identify the capabilities needed to meet the current and emerging needs of the business. Evaluate current capabilities, identify gaps, and prioritise developmentactivities. Stakeholder management - Develop and implement stakeholder engagement strategies and plans across the programmes to identify relevant stakeholders, to create mutually supportive working relationships, and to ensure that each stakeholder clearlyunderstands RACI (responsibility/accountability/consult/inform).Operational compliance - Ensure that business activities within the area of responsibility comply with relevant external guidelines and internal policies and procedures, minimising business risk and to protecting the reputation of Travel Counsellors.This role would suit candidates with experience in the following areas: Project Management Office, PMO, Head of PMO, Digital Transformation, Business Change. Essential Skills Skills and Experience required:
  • Track record of successful delivery of large programmes / project portfolios, and digital transformation in particular
  • Extensive portfolio of programme/project management methodologies and tools, incl. change management, benefit tracking management, initiative prioritisation, and project lifecycle management
  • Experience of interpreting strategy and policy in order to set and deliver objectives within medium to long timeframes
  • Agile delivery experience, setting and supporting the transition from traditional to Agile ways of working
  • Well established stakeholder management capability
  • Strong communication skills
